Frederic Eugene Ives (1856-1937) was a pioneer in color photography and stereoscopic photography. Although experiments with color photography based on the use of 3 filters in each primary color had been conducted since the 1860s, Ives produced the first public demonstration of natural-process color photography at the 1885 Novelties Exposition in Philadelphia. In 1897, he issued a commercially available color photography system, called “Kromskop.”
