Elton John crashed during the 80’s at one point as we noticed, yet the period was still quite good for him thanks to him being quite great then. However, he had to make Reg Strikes Back, i.e. his return to form. Of course, these records are always tough to divorce later on from the contexts of their times, because – I will be honest – I do not think the disc’s that much different from Leather Jackets. Elton John who operated during the early part of the 80’s in his own lane that did show he was aware of the scene decided to go dangerously close to Chicago at a certain point in the later part of the period. However, the mastery of material meant the music didn’t sound desperate to fit in. No, he just seemed less vibrant than usual.
