12 years old in Secondary school I walked past a group of guys in a classroom who were teaching each dance steps Out of boredom i decided to join them Oblivious to the thought that this is going to be my new hobby When I was 17 I decided when I left school I'm gonna pursue the passion of being a dancer Everyday I left home highly anticipated for a rehearsal And realized that majority of those present wore black Black, signifying their boldness Black, showing their strength and wisdom Black, bringing out their passion I was confused cause I thought it was Color Theory These reasons constantly came up as to why they wore black As to why black is a common color for costuming We all stop for a second realizing that I too wore black Black down to sole of my sneakers They asked What is your reason for wearing black I stopped for a second cause I know My mind being an ongoing engine Revving up thoughts and memories Tears already streaming down my face knowing That my story is way to sappy to have presented in front of passionate thinkers At 17 years old Already I was pummeled into thinking that my passion was nothing but a foundation of memory that should be burned away To be replaced by conformity Growing up being shoved into books and the scolding rulers of teachers Me being an artist was unbearable Being a individual striving to change the pages of a society That lives how I lived Through nothing but a television set Born to thinking the world would pay their mortgage Once they obey the laws of the oppressors   Blinding them to the fact there is so much more out there I was scared Scared to thinking my voice will later on be shattered all according to my belief I was willing to die for it At 17 years old I already programmed myself In preparedness for my passion will be death of me Unless I fall victim to the collateral Of people who don't even know what heaven is to them Everyday was a funeral to me Living in a world where living free is ugly My infatuation with death was so real I wore black knowing that any day I'll be killed for loving who I am So every rehearsal to me was digging my own grave I glanced around the room witness pure emotion For we all realize that our passion is the shovels we carry

The pathways don't seem to be clear no more. I still bear the image of a mirror in a corridor asking me what's left of my journey.
