“Daaaad,” Luke whined at the doorway of his parent’s room. “You said we were going flying today. Pleeeease.”

 To note the way the sun’s light cast her shadow, the way her skin bristled as hovercars passed by and senators stepped by, in the way her heart slowed as she entered conversation, as if rebuffing fear in the face of pursuing truth... Kyra noticed all of these things, and several more, and knew without hesitation that her impersonation of the senator was without flaw.

  She knew no fear, her goal had been accomplished, and yet... it was curiosity that pulled her from her path. A heartbeat, fast, warm, calling to the flesh she bore. She should have escaped, found refuge in the unexplored regions until the paradox resolved itself, and yet?

    “What’s wrong? I can tell you’re thinking about something. I- Well, you’re always thinking-” A warm giggle, short and easily controlled, before daring to take another step closer. Concern & care crossing to prominence once again. “-but this seems a bit... more than usual. What’s wrong, Anakin?”

she had known someone would tell on her . had it been a droid or handmaiden , she couldn't be sure ... but it meant that she'd been expecting a parent to chastise her . she didn't even jump at the sound of her father's voice , focus fully on the projection lola was floating in front of her . she sat on the end of her bed legs crossed with a soft smile on her lips as she watched the twi'leks flowing movements as music swelled .

her mother had told her she was too young for the opera , that she'd be up far past her bed time but that she would take care to have a droid record the performance , knowing that the little one would be mesmerized by the performance . she should have known that uploading it to lola before morning would mean she would neglect her sleep . but there was plenty of time for that .

there was something magical about being entranced by music and dance in the dark of the night when everything else was silent , when she wasn't distracted by the hustle and bustle of life around them , visitors coming in and out , droids checking in to see that she hasn't gotten herself in a mountain of trouble . in the dark , when everything was still , she could imagine that she was right on the edge of the stage , delighting in the music and movements in person .

                 the words ring hollow in the air between them . it feels as though she's been begging him for happiness for longer than forever , begging to relive those moments on naboo when the rest of the galaxy felt so far a way . things had seemed so different . it was easy to forget the raging war within the senate , the threat of darkness that hung on every breath . in those moments it had been simple ... only the two of them . but now ?

                 now she waits in the dark alone , eyes focusing on nothing as her husband slumbers buildings away in the temple , mind churning too fast for anyone's good as she plays scenarios over and over in her head , desperate to find the one that fits , the one that allows the smile to creep back to her lips , allows her to remember what it's like to love without secrecy . she has no one to blame but herself . she'd known what she was stepping into , known that forbidden meant that happiness would come second to protection . but there are nights she's desperate for more .

Everything else? He'd learned on Bespin, trying desperately to copy Vader's movements. He'd lost a hand in the process and if he'd been anyone else; anyone other than Vader's son, he would've lost his life.

So when they'd met again, on some rebel extraction mission gone horribly wrong, and Vader'd offered to 'teach him the power of the dark' - Luke had...well...

"Alright father, teach me what you know."

He didn't plan to fall to the dark side. He didn't think he had it in him to be honest, but he needed training if he was to defeat the Emperor. Besides, some uninterrupted quality time could be just what Luke needed to drag his father back into the light.

"Though, I have it on good authority that I'm a terrible student."

Peter thought that was a fair assessment of things. The transport he'd been assigned to with Anakin Skywalker had, rather unsurprisingly given Master Skywalker's record, crashed.

In the middle of an unfamiliar planet's unfamiliar wilderness. And it HURT. A flicker of concern passed through Peter's training bond with Master Koon, he sent back a wave of resigned tiredness, a flash of humor for the situation. Then he turned to Master Skywalker, who was thank the force, concious.

"Well, that could've gone better," he chirped, too bright and too loud. "Least we're alive, right?"
