some rambles about fandom culture and why some children are drawn to it and others aren't (additionally, why some people grow out of it and others do not)
let's say you're a weird kid- you learn very quickly that if you do not take control of your day to day interactions it will be AT BEST boring (bc you are weird and have divergent interests) and at WORST actively make fun of you
total control is impossible for teenagers living at home, and if you struggle socially then you do not have the outlet of control over your social life
ergo, blorbos
some people gain control and romantic fulfillment later in life and find themselves gradually phasing out of fandom interests- or at least the interests fade in their intensity. some do not and the intensity remains. interesting stuff!
