I made these shorts from black jeans that I had laying around in my dresser. Use jeans that are pretty thick and not like a stretchy fashion type of jeans.

Blue Jeans->Blue and White Shorts

Black Jeans->Black and Beige Shorts (the more you wash it, the more white the beige becomes)

1) Cut of the pant legs to your desired length. I cut mine a little longer than how I wanted it to turn out since I was going to fold the edges.

2) Fray the ends. I used some scissors to rip out some of the threads and a box to put the shorts on top, and to destroy by running the scissors back and forth the ends.

3) Set the shorts outside in the cement or pavement with a spray bottle full of bleach and water. Two thirds bleach. One third water.

4) Begin spraying on the shorts and try to make it as uneven as possible. I focused spraying on the ends.

5) Flip to the back side of the shorts and repeat.

6) If you're satisfied, put the shorts in the washer and dryer and wait 'till it's all clean and fiiinneeee.

7) Fold up the frayed edges. I sewed it on the sides to secure the folds.

I think this way works better. The steps are the same until step 4.

4) Scrunch up the shorts unevenly and tie it up kind of like you're tie dying something.

5) Put the tied up shorts in a bucket.

6) Spray onto the shorts with the spray bottle full of bleach and water until soaked.

7) Leave it there, but keep an eye out. It bleaches quickly.

8) Once you're satisfied, throw it in the wash, and dry it.

9) Fold the frayed edges up.

Advice: Use gloves when handling bleach. It can burn and irritate your skin. And it smells unpleasantly strong.
