In the Framework Daisy gives Jemma another pep talk, and then blabs about a secret of FitzââŚ
âWhat was Radcliffe even thinking? Like, does he realize I hate Ward with every fiber of my being? If I could quake, I wouldâve quaked the living crap out of him.â
Jemma nodded, thinking about it very intently. âIndeed. It does seem quite strange for a supposed paradise.â
Daisy scoffed, looking at the computer screen. âFound him.â
Jemma leaped up from her designated seat on her bed and scurried to Daisyâs side, seeing the Google Images of Leopold Fitz living the rich playboys dream. She settled down beside her friend and just stared. âHis hairs different.â
Daisy chuckled a little, wagging her head. âHeâs apparently like the Tony Stark of HydraWorld. Didnât take me but his first name in the search engine for it to guess where I was going with it.â
âHm.â Jemma turned from the computer screen and nodded. âStrange.â She walked back to the bed.
âI mean can you believe this? The last thing Fitz would have ever wanted was to be famous. The guy got tense when even the agencies knew the name âFitzsimmonsâ.â
Fitzsimmons. Jemma would have never imagined that one day it might actually be completely unknown. That the name meant nothing to anyone. Not even Fitz himself.
âAnd weâre not even going to mention that having you dead in this world literally makes Fitzâ world a living hell ââ Daisy paused mid-sentence, seeing her friend in a daze. Theyâd been inside the Framework for over forty-eight hours now and they had finally found each other through all of this crap of an excuse of a world.  Simmons had seemed fine, until now. She shouldâve known better to show her Fitzâ life â Use your brain, Daisy. Sheâs already missing him like crazy, plus he doesnât even know she exists, this really didnât help any.
      âSimmons?â Daisy voiced. âYou okay?â
Jemma looked up, giving Daisy her typical âeverythingâs-fine-not-reallyâ smile. âCourse. Just tired, is all.â
âCâmon, Jemma.â Daisy turned her desk chair to face her, wheeling up closer. âYou can talk to me. I mean, Iâve been blabbing for the past hour. Whatâs up?â
Jemma shrugged, wagging her head. For a moment she looked down at her hands, but when she raised her head back Daisy could see the tears flooding her eyes. âI donât know,â She took in a deep breath, trying to hold back any sobs from escaping her mouth. âSuppose I just miss him.â
Daisy laid a hand on her arm in comfort. âAnd thatâs a hundred percent okay, you got it? Donât start telling yourself youâre not allowed to feel just because weâre on a mission.â
Jemma nodded. âNo, I know. I just â I canât help but think, if his world is so luxurious here, what would make him want to come back to reality?â
âI would think that would be kinda obvious, Jemma.â Daisy paused seeing Jemma didnât seem to know the answer. âThat being you.â
âYes, well I donât exist here, remember? Maybe in the real world; but here? Here Iâm a â a corps to Leopold Fitz. Iâm sure he has a dozen girlfriends every week and lives a life full of ââ
      âOf emptiness and loneliness.â
Jemma stared at her for a moment, soaking up her tears with her sleeves. âYou donât know that.â
âI know that he doesnât have Jemma Simmons in his life, and if you ever asked Fitz what was important to him â what mattered most to him, it was you.â
Jemmaâs eyes filled up with tears even more as she said, âBut that was because I was all he knew. He never had a loving father or a supportive sibling, he had me â in this distorted world he has everything. He doesnât need me. Clearly.â
âJemma, you know what Fitz does have, in reality? He has a mother, who loves him. He has a team who see him and treat him as family. He has Mack who sees him like a brother, Coulson who sees him as a son, and after all of what we give him and he gives back, he still always loves one thing more. You. Fitz might look happy in those pictures, and he might think heâs happy right now, in this very moment. But until he meets Jemma Simmons, the love of his life, he doesnât know what happiness is.â
Jemma gave a slight smile then. âYou seem so sure.â
âYeah, because I know from experience. I was able to live a perfectly happy and content life before I met Lincoln, but once we met I ⌠I just knew I had to have him in my life for the rest of my life. And when he died â it was seriously the hardest thing to continue living. Knowing that the one person you belong with in this world is no longer here, with you.â Daisy blinked, trying not to dwell on the painful past. Lincoln was here â somewhere. Without SHIELD he would still be alive. But she couldnât find him â he wasnât real. âNow câmon, letâs virus the heck out of this HydraWorld and get you Fitz back â that way you guys can go and get married, grow old together.â
Jemma blinked. âWhat did you say?â
Daisy looked at her, a little thrown off. âJust that you guys can finally go settle down together, after all of this.â
      Jemma eyed her. âWhy?â
Daisy chuckled a little. âWhy what, Jemma?â
âWhy did you say that? Did Android Fitz say something to you, before everything?â
Daisy narrowed her eyes. âNoâŚ? I guess I just figured ââ
âIâve never mentioned wanting to get married before.â
Daisy was starting to look nervous. âYeah, so? I thought it was pretty obvious, right? I mean, itâs you guys, everyone expects that from you-â
âDo they?â Jemma wiped the last of her tears, still prying at Daisy. âBecause I would assume everyone would expect us to live our lives working in the lab, side by side, just as we are.â
Daisy sighed. âAll right, fine, since I can obviously tell you arenât going to let this go,â Daisy winced. Fitz would kill her if he knew she blabbed. âFitz mightâve asked me a couple weeks back ⌠what your ring size was.â Jemmaâs eyes widened. Daisy could already imagine Fitz glaring at her. âAnd if you would prefer Princess cut.â
Jemma was speechless. Android Fitz mentioned marriage, but she never in a million years thought Fitz would actually start planning on a proposal without getting some kind of confirmation from her first. Not that she didnât find this romantic â she just didnât think Fitz to be that bold. He took years to even admit his feelings for her, for goodness sake.
âHe mightâve also asked if I thought you would be for marriage in the first place,â Daisy grinned. âI mightâve told him yes a whole bunch of times.â
Jemma finally spoke. âI canât⌠When was he planning on doing all of this?â
âI donât really think Fitz even knew. With all this stuff with Aida and Radcliffe, plus with his constant self-doubt. Itâs amazing what you guys have been through and Fitz still questions if you would say yes.â She shrugged. âIâm not sure if he even got the ring. I just know it had been on his mind, a lot. He apparently even mentioned it to Mack.â
Jemma was in awe. Fitz and her, married. The thought was a constant friend if she was going to be completely honest; she just didnât know what Fitz would think. He was already uneasy about getting an apartment together, not to mention his past with his father. Fitz never seemed very keen on the whole marriage idea.
      âYou would say yes ⌠right?â
Jemma looked up at Daisy, drawn out of her thoughts. âHm? â Oh! Yes, yes,â Jemma laughed, a smile on her face. âWithout a doubt.â
âWell, then,â Daisy stood up, grabbing her jacket. âLetâs break our team out of this hell.â
Jemma gave a solid, confident nod and gathered her things along-side. âYou know, I think I know of the perfect candidate to help us with our predicament.â
      âWho?â
Jemma smirked. âDoes the name Trip ring any bells?â
Daisy grinned back. âLet me look him up.â
