I heard rumors that someone else was going to take the lead and establish a new design week. So it’s great to see that 3 Days of Design now for the second year in a row is arranging a growing design experience. From 28th-30th May more than forty design companies will open their showrooms, stores and design institutions and invite you inside to experiences everything with a focal point of furniture, lighting and design objects.

Here is what I’m planning to see:

BYGGESELSKABET MAJ Byggeselskabet Maj has existed for 25 years and is known for craftsmanship of high quality and integrity. When they open their showroom at 3 Days of Design, I will especially be excited to see more new work by Cabinet, who together with craftsmen Julian Kyhl and Peter Klint will be showing new work. They invite you to take a dip in the sea, drink cocktails, beers and fresh homemade sodas from the micro brewery Micropolis, or try some of Peter Klint’s tasty specialty’s in a small pop-up cafe in the courtyard. ALL DAYS: 10am-6pm at Kalkbrænderiløbskaj Pakhus 403, The Red Hall, 2100 Copenhagen Ø. SATURDAY: They will be hosting a special Bar Basso night from 6pm-3am (If it will be anything like it’s inspiration source: the infamous Bar Basso in Milan, the place to go when at Salone Del Mobile, I defo think this is where the party will be!).

DINESEN I want to go and experience Dinesen’s new showroom, they are the makers of the most amazing wooden floors in the world. Here you will be able to experience two sides of Dinesen. One side shows the new collections, Extraordinary by Nature and Tree of a Kind, this part takes the exclusiveness of the long and wide wooden planks to a new level. The other part of the showroom is a raw and playful universe, which presents another, more creative Dinesen with planks in a variety of dimensions and expressions. THURSDAY: from 10am-12 noon they have an event just up my street with “a gastronomical experience with Electrolux Grand Cuisine”. It is on at Søtorvet 5, 1371 Copenhagen K.

DAWN I’m excited to see the work of up-and-coming designers at the exhibition DAWN, the exhibition will present the best of new Danish furniture and handcrafted design by carefully selected designers. ALL DAYS: The show Dawn is on at: Next to Pakhus 52, Klubiensvej 15 2150 Nordhavn.

FRAMA Frama showroom will be introducing the new exhibition “Salon” at 3 Days of Design. Drawing upon the traditional versus contemporary elements in their space at St. Pauls Apotek they will create an entirely new environment. With art direction by interior stylist Nathalie Schwer, the show will be presenting a new approach to the fusion of art and lifestyle. FRIDAY: Reception from 4pm-7pm with Wine & cocktails from Balderdash x Sing Tehus at Fredericiagade 57 1310 Copenhagen K.

KVADRAT At Kvadrat they will be presenting Turning Faces, a textile installation created by Kinnasand – an immersive experience with an interplay of colour, texture, light and movement. ANY DAY: Pakhus 48 | Klubiensvej 22 | 2150 Nordhavn

PLEASE WAIT TO BE SEATED PLEASE WAIT to be SEATED opens the doors to reveal the news from the Milan fair and the full collection of Egon Eiermann and Mattiazzi. OPEN EVERY DAY: 10am-6pm at their Showroom at Frederiksgade 1, 1st. floor, 1265 Copenhagen K. THURSDAY: from 6pm-7pm there will be Lounge at the showroom. FRIDAY: beers and pork scratchings from 5pm-7pm at DANSK, Istedgade 80, 1650 Copenhagen V.

If there’s room for a bit of criticism here at the end, I do have to say, with a background in graphic design, that I’m a bit dissapointed that 3 Days of Design got Architects to design their booklet. Where are the great Danish graphic designers?? No offense to GamFratesi and their great body of work within the realm of architecture and product design!
