Fallout 4: MAJOR FPS DROPS
I don’t have a clue as to why. Maybe my laptop just isn’t good enough? Anyway, I noticed that I was having what I called LAG, even though I KNOW that’s for ONLINE games, on the quest to help out the second settlement. It was agonizing, but I got through it and everything went back to normal.
I finally decided to head to Diamond City...HOLY SHIT. Once in the actual “city” it isn’t too bad, however just trying walk around Boston to get there in the first place took forever. I just started the Greenskin quest and I KNEW it was in the city. I almost swam from a little beach settlement thinking it would have been faster. I was probably right.
I fast traveled to one of the MANY sites in Boston that was fairly close. What normally would have taken me about a minute or so to run in the game took me about TEN MINUTES. I got the F. Hall, killed the mutants outside and then opened the doors. It never loaded. The little purple dot on the side of the screen kept going, but it stayed a black screen while playing my Freedom Radio fiddle song.
So, I decided to just exit, went back to my desktop and exited the game. Then I just wanted to close Steam, but oh no, Steam says I have to close Fallout first. Um, hello, it is! *SIGH* So I restarted my computer after doing some research. I’m hoping that validating the game and then setting the shadow distance to medium will help with all of this because just lowing the graphics settings didn’t help at all. We will see.
