The guy sees Zuko out of the corner of his eye and stops, holding the door to the lecture hall. 

“Oh, hey,” he smiles, pulling out his earbud.

Here’s the thing: Zuko has known he is gay for several years. When he was younger, he never cared for any of the girls he knew. In high school, he had several guy crushes, even as he dated Mai for a few months. He didn’t do any dating his first year of college, but he made out with one of his study buddies once or twice. Zuko came to terms with his sexuality years ago, even if he’s still working up the courage to talk about it more openly around people who aren’t his uncle, sister, and friends. 

But as he makes eye contact with this stranger, the only thing he can think of is “I’m gay I’m gay I’m gay.” 

The guy is still smiling at Zuko as if he’s completely unaware of the way he just completely short circuited Zuko’s brain. “Are you—?”

“Yes.”

“—in this class?”

Oh. Zuko blinks. He doesn’t know what he expected the question to be. Well, he does, but looking back a total stranger probably wouldn’t start a conversation with “Are you gay?” 

this is from a one shot that i meant to write for zukka week but that i never finished (rip) even tho i still like concept a lot. it’s a book 2 fic where sokka starts doing secret vigilante work at night and ends up teaming up with the blue spirit

Sokka buys the mask on a whim.

He finds it in a secluded little shop in the Upper Ring, tucked between a flower shop and a fancy bakery. It’s easy to miss—there’s not much more than a door and a little window peering inside—but something catches his eye as he wanders past. There, on display in the window, half-hidden by sign loudly proclaiming a sale: a wolf mask.
