that seems like a really long ferry ride
The ferry ride is pretty lengthy but it’s going from Tsawwassen (the southernmost part of Metro Vancouver) to Swartz Bay (the northernmost part of the Saanich Peninsula, which is where Victoria is) so it’s about as short as it could possibly be. A straight-across ferry from downtown Vancouver (which would land you in Nanaimo) has been under discussion for years but that process has been moving incredibly slowly. And it would need to be a foot passenger-only ferry because the facilities required for the double-ended car ferries are huge.
