The ferry ride is pretty lengthy but it’s going from Tsawwassen (the southernmost part of Metro Vancouver) to Swartz Bay (the northernmost part of the Saanich Peninsula, which is where Victoria is) so it’s about as short as it could possibly be. A straight-across ferry from downtown Vancouver (which would land you in Nanaimo) has been under discussion for years but that process has been moving incredibly slowly. And it would need to be a foot passenger-only ferry because the facilities required for the double-ended car ferries are huge.

UKIP is awful and unserious but it’s not unreasonable to think it’s in the EU’s best interest to give post-Brexit UK the same deal as Norway and Switzerland just because so much EU trade is with Europe. At the same time, it’s tricky to know how much the EU wants to be harsh to the UK to deter future exit movements. I think it largely depends on whether the political leadership of the UK is friendly enough to other EU countries that other EU leaders can sell a high-access deal to their own voters - and no idea if that’s going to be the case.

I don’t even know. I have like a dozen browser extensions to make tumblr more usable. Must be one of them.
