I love the details and colors(!) on the left picture, I do, they are drool-worthy. But somehow, I like Rannon more on the right. He is somehow sharper and more accessible(uh?) at once. The pose helps too. I guess I like him more when he knows he screwed up, then :D It's kinda like Left: flashy, pretty, bluntly powerful weapon that would incinerate me (nope); Right: Sharp, elegant, well-balanced blade that would totally look awesome with blood on it (yay! ...wait what?)
You very, very rarely see Rannon as scaled down as in that right sketch! It’s always shoulder-starched overcoats and multiple layers; shorter and allowing for more movement than the actual royal robes of kingship, but still very much regal garb.
The somber clothing he wears for a while after his slip-up and punishment are so simple, they’re virtually commoner’s clothes. A very vivid display of repentance. So accessible, yes, not entirely far from the point! Humble, if you could ever call him humble. An attempt, at least!
