Hey Foxes, it’s with a very heavy heart that I’m posting this, and I’m sorry if it comes as a surprise, but it is a decision that I’ve been considering for some time now:

With little to no new interest in the roleplay, a slowing dash, and what I feel has been lackluster response to games and events, I feel like I’ve been spending more time fighting to keep the roleplay open and members engaged than I have enjoying the roleplay, which is not how I want things to be. For those reasons, I have to admit that my heart isn’t in it anymore, and it’s time for the doors to close on the Foxhole Court. 

While I’m sad for all the plans I never got to see come to fruition, and for all the characters I never got to see find loving homes, I’m beyond grateful for the time I got to spend with all of you. The Foxhole Court was open for a year and four months, which in the scheme of things is an amazingly long time, and I will always be proud of us for making it this far. 

And while we won’t take it all the way to the Spring Championships, or to a Fox victory, I still believe that the members that I’ve had the pleasure of writing with here, both past and present, have been some of the most talented and kindest I’ve ever been able to roleplay with. Though I’m disappointed that this is where things are ending, that is something that will always be true. 

For those of you who are playing canon characters, I ask that you not take them elsewhere, whether it’s to other roleplays or to 1x1s. And, if you want to stay in touch with me, you can always find me on my personal blog. 

One last time,

Hey Foxes! I wanted to take an opportunity to remind you of one of the cardinal rules of roleplaying, and that is included in our rules, and it is that godmodding is not allowed. What that means is, essentially, you only control your own character.

Of course, there are instances where minor godmodding is allowed: if, say, your characters are walking somewhere together, it’s safe to assume in your reply that the other person’s character is in fact walking; if your characters are driving somewhere together, it’s safe to assume that the other character gets in the car. But beyond things like that, simple mechanics necessary to keep a thread going, you cannot assume or dictate another character’s actions or reactions, you can only respond to what has already been explicitly stated in the thread. 

Godmodding also refers to in-character knowledge. Just because something has occurred on the dash does not necessarily mean that your character is aware of it. If your character hasn’t been told something explicitly, or you haven’t confirmed out-of-character that it’s okay for them to have that knowledge, then your character does not know it. 

And that brings me to my most important point: out of character communication is good! When in doubt, you can always check in with your thread partners to make sure something is okay before you do it, or if it’s okay to assume that your character knows a certain piece of information or has heard a piece of gossip. If you see a plot unfolding that you think it would make sense for your character to be involved in, discuss it with the player in question first. And if someone points out to you that you’ve overstepped, the appropriate response is always to go back and change your reply. 

If you have any questions about what is and isn’t considered godmodding, you can always ask me. (Anonymously or not!) And, remember, if you ever have any concerns, you can always bring them to me!

Hey Foxes! After some consideration, I’m going to be changing up how I conduct activity checks.

This has never been spelled out officially on the main anywhere, but the way I have been conducting activity checks is: 1) posting a notice on the main that one is coming; 2) privately messaging those who have exceeded the activity limit; 3) posting a public warning on the main for those who did not respond to the private warning; 4) unfollowing those that did not respond to the public warning. 

As time has gone on and the roleplay has gotten larger, this process has become too cumbersome and slow for me as an admin, but also I think nontransparent for members, as well as vulnerable to being taken advantage of. 

So, that being said, I will no longer be conducting private warnings for players who have exceeded the activity limit. I didn’t send out private warnings for our past activity check, partially because I figured I’d given ample warning about it for the previous two weeks, and that is how activity checks will be conducted going forward, with one additional change: I will be giving those on the activity check 72 hours to contact me or resume activity before unfollowing.

This is also me reassigning some responsibility to you! As an admin, I’m responsible for monitoring activity for 30+ characters. As a player, you’re responsible for monitoring only your own characters, so a maximum of two. Being aware of and monitoring your own activity and proactively getting in touch with me when you know you need an extension or a hiatus is what I like to see in members, and something that makes my job as an admin much easier!

Hey Foxes! Checking in from the middle of a long weekend to say:

This week is going to be extremely busy for me—(all the stress I’ve been stressing about? it’s all been leading up to this week!)—but when (if) I successfully come out the other side of it, we’ll have our next game, which will take place on September 15, and will be an away game against the Belmonte Terrapins. 

I’ve also gone ahead and updated the schedule on the Games Blog. That schedule is subject to change, dates for games may get move around a little bit if conflicts in my schedule come up, but that’s the general outline of the season ahead, which will take us all the way to the Winter Banquet, and the announcement of which teams qualify for the Spring Championships!

I will be accepting this week, at the usual time of Wednesday at 9PM EST. We currently have nine open canon roles to choose from, as well as three available slots for Fox original characters. Ahead of the next game, I”d love to see one more goalkeeper and a couple more backliners in play, either from our open roles or original characters. I’m accepting original characters for every position except for dealer.

Hey Foxes! A very excited reminder that this is week is game week! 

The introductory post for the Foxes’ home opener against the USC-Columbia Gamecocks will be posted tomorrow on the Games Blog, and the result of the first game of the season will be posted on Friday night. 

Which means that there’s still time to join the fun before the season kicks off! I’ll be accepting on Wednesday night at 9PM EST, and would love to welcome some new characters into the game then.  We currently have nine open canon roles, and one of them is our Vixen Captain Vivian Brooks, who is very much wanted! We also have three available slots for Fox Original Characters, and I’m accepting original character for all positions except for dealer. 

I’m pleased to see so many of you active on the dash, so keep up the good work! Work has been keeping me busier than I would like these past few weeks, so it makes me happy to see that you guys can hold down the fort for me when necessary. 

Hey Foxes! I’ve spent some time this afternoon planning out the schedule for the upcoming season, and I wanted to give you guys an idea of what I’ve got in store!

The schedule on the sidebar of the main has been updated: on August 11 we’ll be having another mini-event to conclude the Foxes’ summer before the school year starts on August 14. Then, the Exy season will begin in earnest with the Foxes’ first game on August 25, which will be a home game against the USC-Columbia Gamecocks. 

The rest of the schedule for the first part of the Exy season (including the Fall Banquet, which the Foxes will be hosting this year) can be found on the Games Blog, so take a look at that and, in advance of the season, make sure you’re following the blog! 

More games will be added as the season progresses, and I’ll be sure to make an announcement each time I update the schedule. But until then—get excited! Exy season is right around the corner.

Hey Foxes! We’ve had a busy month leading up to acceptances tomorrow—with the overhaul of the main, updates to our old biographies, and nine new biographies released—and it was all in service of one thing: celebrating the roleplay’s one year anniversary and setting the stage for an exciting new season!

So, with the brief lull before acceptances tomorrow, I wanted to take the opportunity to be a little sentimental. I made the first post on TFC on June 5 of last year—(and I remember waiting very impatiently for the main to show up in the tags)—and we opened for roleplaying on June 28. And I can’t believe that a year has gone by!

TFC is the first roleplay I’ve build from the ground up, and the first I’ve run by myself. When I made that very first post, I had my doubts that I would even be able to attract enough attention and enough applications to open—I never could have imagined that, a year later, we’d still be going strong, and that we would grow beyond even my wildest dreams for this roleplay, including so many more characters than my original nine canon biographies, and including Vixens and Staff in addition to Foxes. 

And, obviously, none of that would have happened without all of you! I’m so thankful to have all of you here, and so thankful to everyone who has ever been a member. You all bring such passion and dedication to your characters and are so kind and supportive out of character, and I’m so proud of the community we’ve managed to build over the past year. And that goes for all of you, whether you’ve been a member from the very beginning—(and I’m humbled that there are still some of you!)—or are very new. 

This has gotten very long and very sappy, but I just wanted to say, more than anything else, thank you. TFC, both the series and this roleplay, came into my life at a pretty important time, and I’m so proud to have reached this milestone, and so excited for what comes ahead—and figuring that out with all of you!

Hey Foxes! And I hope you’re all having a good weekend! A reminder that at the end of the week we’ll be having an event, and that this week is the last week of summer practices before the school year starts. 

I’ll be accepting on Wednesday at 9PM EST, as usual. We currently have six open canon roles that I’d love to see taken, especially Olivia Finch, and three available slots for Fox original characters. I’d love to see some applications before that time! 

And, as previously mentioned, I will be conducting an activity check tomorrow, and I can tell you right now that there are a number of you that have exceeded activity limits, so if you don’t want to end up on the activity check now would be a good time to resume posting!
