If your feminism is dependent on needing to convince men of your humanity and if your goal is to make men understand the subjugation of women, your feminism is virtually useless. You can't change men by educating them. You can't change them by loving them. You can't change them by holding their hand through feminist concepts. Stop relying on these tactics.
Hell, even yelling at them and arguing with them about it is a complete waste of time if you're trying to convince them.
Give them more credit. They're not stupid. They know women have a lower place in society. It's literally impossible not to come to this conclusion if you have even a modicum of history knowledge, actually you don't even need that. You just have to have women in your life to see it.
They know and they are okay with our second class status.
Think about it, every man has a mother. Men have had sisters and they have had daughters and wives and female friends. They are not shielded from this reality. Their daughters, their mothers, sisters have been raped and constantly held back by patriarchal systems, since the DAWN OF HUMANKIND.
Don't you think if they could change, if they wanted to, that they would have by now? Our oppression goes back thousands upon thousands of years. They've had ample time and yet we've barely moved the needle on our progress in most of the world.
This is not the first time in history that woman have raised their voices on these issues. They have done it from every point in history.
So why are men stalling so bad?
Do you really believe it's out of ignorance? That they just need us to tug on their heart strings.
They don't care! They never have. So called male feminists will humor us, pat us on the head and say "oh don't worry I don't hate women. I love women, theyre so sexy. women are totally people. Im a feminist too" or "yeah that's so sweet hun that you found something you care about"
Of course women are so desperate for the men they love to respect them, admire them, and take them seriously that they grab on to these platitudes like a lifeline and attach unrealistic sincerity to them.
But men have still never ever stuck their neck out for women. If you spend your energy waiting for it you WILL be disappointed.
Always remember that if he wanted to he WOULD.
Not a single human rights movement has been successful because it's members sat around and negotiated with their oppressors.
The only way that change has ever been made has been by organizing from within and uniting as one to assert ones humanity regardless of what the oppressors believe about the oppressed.
Stop fucking asking for permission.
Men do not need to change for us to be free.
Women need to change. Female solidarity is the only way.
