So since DM and its ugly past incarnationsĀ have been on my mind a lot lately (thanks, @winterywitch), I was thinking about Heirās earliest DM character, Mathew (the Tigress/Humphrey tiger-wolf kid).
I remember he had a thing where heād break the fourth wall, and I honestly donāt mind fourth-wall breaking every now and then, but my question is... Why?
I havenāt seen Alpha and Omega, but I havenāt read or heard of any instances of the characters breaking the fourth wall. (Please correct me if Iām wrong though.)Ā However, I have seen both of theĀ Kung Fu Panda movies (and wouldnāt mind seeing the third one), and I know that fourth-wall breaking is not a thing in them. So...where did this āfourth-wall breakerā thing come from? I know that our first run had its share of goofy stuff in it, but looking back, the whole fourth-wall thing just seemed kinda... I donāt know, pointless? Like, okay, if he were Deadpoolās kid, Iād be more forgiving of that kind of thing, but these two characters? I donāt know, something about it doesnāt really sit well with me.
