Seriously though, you should check this out. I have the privilege of working with some ridiculously talented people, and I couldn't love/appreciate you guys more.

My fourth Issue comes from the website the Environmental News Network. The article is titled "International Ice Core Team Hits Bedrock in Greenland" and was published August 3, 2010, 09:52 AM.

This article discusses the achievement scientists have made by hitting on an important bedrock in Greenland, and just how important the study of this ice core is to the way we go forward in relation to climate change. The immensity to which this science team has drilled becomes apparent in the articles use of numbers e.g "to a depth of 2537.36 meters (1.58 miles).",(David A Gabel Environmental News Network) This constant use of statistics/ numbers through out the article help to get across to the reader just how large and important this scientific study is, it keeps the reader interested. This article also point out how important this part of Greenland is to the scientists, as it will help them predict the future. This is deliberately done to show how important Greenland is in showing the way our climate may dramatically change and what we need to do. The project on Greenland is called NEEM and involves more than 10 countries e.g "...china, Demark...",(David A Gabel Environmental News Network), this shows that countries know how important this piece of land is to the whole world. This study is also important, as it has showed scientists just what Greenland looked like "three million years ago.",(David A Gabel Environmental News Network) This means that Greenland is almost like one large time capsule to society, as it holds a tremendous amount of information about the world’s past climates. The other main point this article stresses is the immensity of this study and just what it has taken to drill down to bedrock. The next few paragraphs use a lot of technical terms, which make this part of the article less accessible to the readers. This paragraph points out exactly how the scientists are using the core and what for. It basically says they are analyzing and measuring the core beneath the surface to determine the history of the climates that were around it. In conclusion this article is about the achievements these scientists have made in Greenland, the impact of the past knowledge of these scientists will discover and the importance it will have on our future.
