This story truly begin before March 7, 2014, but on that day I made a choice completely for me. Looking back on what I thought was my best interest at the time, I instituted the foundation for who I am today, April 11, 2017.
I’ve seen way too many rom-coms, dramas and/or teenage angst movies to not be worried when I receive the “We need to talk” text message from my girlfriend of the time. Well that happened and I had a wonderful NJ transit ride from central NJ into NYC to contemplate what really was about to happen. Though the hammer didn’t drop when she answered her door in what was her most comfortable house clothes ever, I definitely knew what was about to happen.
I went from the man trying to open my heart to another to a stubborn teen afraid to swallow my pride for the pending weekend. This trip to NYC was the first stage of travel to my coworker’s wedding in Atlanta, GA. Suddenly, I was overcome by the punch drunk love of a 4+ year relationship I thought could be it. Boy was this liquor damn good.Â
My pride sent me into Delirium Tremens (3). My pride chose a facade. My pride chose the hardest thing that I have ever experienced. My pride made me endure a weekend surrounded by love when I felt like mine was shattered. My pride said I needed to run from the Northeast. My pride chose the career opportunity that would take me the furthest away in the quickest amount of time.Â
Got to ask yourself the question, where are you now? (4)
I’ve split my last three years between Orlando, FL and San Diego, CA. In the east I fell for a girl who shifted her embrace seconds after I told her about my new opportunity in the west. She’s another story that will be shared, but today is a different focus. Today, I am single, tired of being the eligible bachelor persona I’ve created and annoyed with my own inability to say yes. I am the embodiment of the drink for this post (5).
He accepts it’s his fate. He admits it took too long to admit that he was wrong. (4)
I’ve struggled with figuring out exactly how I would use this space to release my ideas, but a long walk home under a full moon listening to the soundtrack for this post (4). With each post I will share the following items:Â
The Soundtrack for this Post
I can’t promise a consistent periodic for posts because I allow for the inspiration to flow freely, but I know you will not have to wait too long for the next post. Thank you for reading.
