5.6.24 - Tiny Duck
Came across this little Long Distance Rate Wheel that Ma Bell put out in 1977. Using it like an old decoder ring, you would find the two cities that you are calling from and to on the back. That graph would give the user a letter. Take that letter and use the decoder wheel to line up with that letter. (In the photo H is being used.) Then that would show you at the opposite end of the wheel the long distance rates you would pay depending on the time of day you called.
Cell phones sure have eliminated this pain in the derriere.
Sometime in 1977, my father carved a little frame. As I’ve been cleaning out his house, I found some guitar strings, unused and still in the package, and quite a few guitar picks. I decided to make some ‘found item’ art for my brother, who is also a guitarist.
It’s very, very basic, but about as much as I could do with such a small space. I will pack it up with the Monster dress and ship it to him. I coped with the glue, E6000, about as well as I ever cope with glue - which is not very. It’s quite a good adhesive for different surfaces; a found-item artist I met last year recommended it. The problem seems to be me, I can make a right mess with plain-old Elmer’s. Faced with a strong, clear, gooey, oozy adhesive that continues crawling out of the tube after you quit squeezing, I tend to have difficulties. I did not glue my fingers to the project, and that counts as a win.

I found a doll while picking up roadside garbage. She was too cute to trash. I made her a scarf out of moss, now she lives in my garden among the ferns. :)
Thank you for giving Google a friend.
