âYou are gonna have one hell of a hangover tomorrow.â

Hangovers? Cute⊠Like that even remotely mattered to him at this point! What with the latest cut to the art funding on top of the ever shrinking paychecks teachers had to suffer at the hands of the board of education smacking him upside the nose this morning. The cephalopod had been funding art supplies for his cherished profession for the past two years, sure, but now he REALLY had to scrape by to make things work for his students. The man was dedicated to a very specific, classical curriculum that was relatively expensive to maintain, a curriculum he had maintained out of a combination of passion to his craft, and how much he cared for the growth of his pupils; not like the board would understand, what with how greedy and uncultured they are!
Squidward, no, Mr. Tentacles looked down at his half-emptied wine glass as he thumbed the stem, then quickly side-eyed his bottle of rosĂ© that he had secretly kept for such an emergency. There was merely a third of the alcoholic beverage left and, between his dizzying thoughts and dilating pupils, it had become increasingly obvious how distraught he had been over the recent budget cuts. Maybe he should ease up on the beverage, especially at school in front of one of his own students of all people, but hey this was Frankie after all, and Squidward had grown to trust her rather quickly over the years theyâve spent together.
The two had a bit of a symbiotic relationship going for them, one where the red head would stay after school for an hour or so and express herself trough any chosen medium of art, and where Squidward would happily join in and guide her through it. It seemed to help her vent and escape from her home life for a bit, and it also definitely helped the octopus unwind after the stressful school day with someone who genuinely cared about art as much as he did.
â Ya donât sssay,â His speech was slurred, and he remained slumped in his seat appearing rather forlorn, â Trrussst me sweetheart, I knOOow, but uhh⊠I canât help it! Thossse⊠moronsh⊠they cut tha art fundsss!!! Hows am I âspose ta make endsss meet nowâŠ?!â
He leaned on top of his desk, one tentacle still wrapped around his glass, and another cradling his head.
