#foster interaction.

             ever   since   foster   had   discovered   the   free   library   ,   he'd   made   it   his   mission   to   acquire   as   many   books   as   he   could   from   there.   he'd   scored   a   lot   of   good   books   by   going   there   once   a   week   ,   and   always   made   sure   to   leave   another   one   behind.   foster   was   still   rather   new   to   reading   as   a   hobby   ,   so   free   books   was   a   pretty   sure   way   of   making   sure   he   didn't   spend   all   his   money   on   words   on   paper. there   were   a   few   good   ones   left   behind   that   day   ,   and   foster   could   see   one   that   he'd   been   recommended   waiting   to   be   his.   just   as   he   was   about   to   grab   the   book   ,   a   bony   hand   reached   into   the   little   library   and   snatched   it   from   him.   then   it   was   gone.   foster   swung   around   to   see   the   little   thief   scurry   away.   "uh   ,   'scuse   me   ?"   he   interrupted   ,   trying   to   catch   their   attention.   "i   was   just   about   to   grab   that."

             "uh   ,   are   you   brandon   ?"   foster   kinda   regretted   signing   up   for   the   secret   santa   exchange.   he   hadn't   thought   of   the   fact   that   he   would   have   to   find   a   gift   for   someone   he   didn't   know.   he'd   asked   around   and   finally   someone   had   pointed   him   in   the   direction   of   his   giftee.   "this   is   fucking   awkward   ,   but   i   got   you   for   my   secret   santa."   he   holds   out   the   gift   containing   a   dark   brown   moleskin   notebook.   it   wasn't   a   lot   ,   but   foster   had   made   sure   to   get   one   of   the   good   ones.

             "you   piss   me   off   so   fucking   much   !"   if   someone   heard   the   way   foster   spoke   to   his   co-worker   ,   they   would've   thought   they   were   in   a   serious   argument   ,   not   that   they   were   simply   saying   hello.   "why   do   you   look   like   that   ?"

             "hey   ,   dude   ,"   foster   called   out   as   he   saw   a   familiar   face   in   the   crowd.   elijah   ,   accompanied   by   his   son   ,   was   standing   next   to   the   face   painting   station   and   foster   hurried   over   to   them   before   they   were   lost   in   the   crowd.   "hi   noah   ,   are   you   doing   some   cool   face   paint   ?   or   are   we   thinking   your   dad   should   get   some   ?"

             "listen   ,   just   because   you're   born   down   unda   with   surfing   and   waves   and   shit   ,   does   not   mean   you   know   how   to   skate."   he   clasped   the   helmet   under   kara's   chin   and   tapped   it   in   satisfaction.   "safety   first   ,   safety   second   ,   coolness   third."

             there   wasn't   much   in   foster's   life   that   bothered   him   anymore.   possibly   wet   socks   and   burnt   food   ,   but   those   were   few   and   far   in   between   these   days.   passing   lily   on   the   street   was   ,   unfortunately   ,   a   more   frequent   occurrence.   it   wasn't   that   foster   disliked   her   ,   it   was   just   that   she   carried   with   her   a   lot   of   memories   that   foster   would   rather   put   behind   him.   and   that   was   hard   to   do   when   it   was   standing   in   the   middle   of   the   town   square.   "hey,   lils   ,"   he   said   softly   ,   nickname   slipping   from   his   lips   before   he   could   stop   it.   "how's   it   going   ?"
