For decades, a quarry provided sand used for water filtration. Now it’s lush with fossil discoveries and opened annually to the public.
Followed this from an I Fucking Love Science article calling this the “first fossil bed from the dinosaur extinction itself”.

Rowan University bought the quarry to preserve the fossil beds. Bless you! Kenneth Lacovera is building new earth science department at the school.
It’s open once a year to the public. Does anyone else cringe seeing this many civilians crawling over a possibly extremely important site? I’m sure they know what they’re doing.
