sigh
Such an interesting photograph from the collection of Fortepan. We see two hassidic (orthodox?) jew rushing in front of a house, a moment caught by a photographer who, who knows if he knew them or was just passing by.
What's even more interesting for me is that they are probably hurrying somewhere with seemingly Hanukkah menorahs in their hands - what a rare moment captured by the photographer! They go to a big family candle lighting? maybe to the synagogue? Who knows. We dont know where the picture was taken, only the year: 1940, which adds even more layer and possible interpretation to the photograph.
