          She can’t help but smile at David, hearing their child, their beautiful boy, gurgling excitedly on the floor with his blocks. He was growing so fast, stacking the blocks like a champ and clapping his little hands at his accomplishment. And she was proud, as she knew David was proud. The thought of Valentine’s Day hadn’t entered her mind properly, not really until those two words had come tumbling out of David’s mouth. And that only made her smile grow. Her hand reached out for his, bringing it to her lips and kissing it softly, each knuckle, and then at his palm — she kissed him there the most tenderly. “You really gotta ask that?” she asked, smiling up at him as she laid his palm at her stomach, the child growing inside her, though she wasn’t showing quite yet — she knew their second child was growing. “I’m always yours, David. I always have been, ever since the first night we kissed... I’m always yours.” Her hand reached out to touch at his cheek, leaning forward to giving him a kiss at his lips. “And I always will be.”

          The thought of working on Valentine’s Day had seemed cruel, even though as far as gossip writing went, there was always a story to tell — especially on this particular holiday. But that was fine, even though it took all her will power to get out of bed, harder to say goodbye to her boys. She liked her job, at least she liked where she knew she was heading in her career, knowing she’d step away from idle celebrity gossip and soon would be writing about things that mattered. But that would come later. But you know what Faye Brookes loved above anything else? Coming home to her boys. Nothing could beat that. A laugh comes out as she takes in the sight of them, David with flowers and chocolates — chocolate covered cherries to boot — and their son who clung to his father and eyes lit up as soon as he saw his mother. God, she loved that. “Look at you guys,” she said as she walked closer to them, and the closer he got, the more Adam bounced within David’s grasp. God, she remembered Valentines with David being so different, fancy dinners and all that followed — mostly in ways that helped create their little ray of sunshine. “Now this is the way to end the day.” she said, leaning over to lay a gentle kiss on David’s lips, bringing her nose to the roses as red as her hair and taking in the floral scent. 

          Adam, upon seeing this, reaches his hand out, and stretches over and grabbed a handful of the rose’s petals and pulls it from its stem, holding it toward Faye. “Mommy!”

          It was hard not to laugh, exchanging a look between herself and David before she reached for the rose’s petals her son had clutched in his little hands. “For me?”

          “Uh huh!” he let out with an enthusiastic nod, “Mommy like it?”

          “Mommy loves it, thank you, sweetheart,” she said with a bright smile as her son returns the smile, only brighter. She reached forward and kissed his cheek. “I love you both so much, I can’t even believe how much.” Smiling over at David as she rested her cheek against Adam’s own cheek before saying, “I would’ve never been this happy without either of you, and that’s the best Valentine’s Day gift I could ever have.” But as her eyes looked to the chocolates, she smiled, “Lemme get this,” reaching over to grab the flowers and chocolates. “What ‘bout... We head into the living room, put on somethin’ we can all watch...and eat these chocolates together?”

          Her sweet boy let out a gasp with wide eyes, “Yes!” In such a triumphant voice it made Faye laugh. She couldn’t help but look over at David, her face full of adoration for him, their family, knowing that in a few months, they’d have more of this, as their family would grow just a bit bigger — and she couldn’t wait. 

the shadow king? don’t know her. it’s all faye and that look she gives him

this is not the face you want to get from the mother of your children. shadow king may have done terrible things, but word has it that when faye is really mad at david??? she eats all his twizzlers. right in front of him. watching him as she eats them all. 

david’s not scared of anyone but his wife but he finds that hot too
