JORDANA : FORGETTER
Norway’s Mr Little Jeans released a fabulous new breakup anthem a few weeks ago named Forgetter, featuring glitchy textures and a slow-building, dark sweltering bass line, quickly reminding us why we’ve been fans of the singer songwriter for many years. Revisit the track via our feature, here. Grammy-nominated alt dance faves Sofi Tukker showcase their remixing genius on a vigorous whirling, beat pounding edit of the single. They leave me breathless with the track, which exudes some deep retro 90s trance/industrial house vibes, a much welcome whiff of nostalgia from my old dance and rave days. This is one to dance the night away to, maybe in a dingy club or at an outdoor soiree with green lasers piercing the fog hanging over your head. You can also stream the remix via Spotify, here.
I still remember when I first fell in love with Norway’s Mr Little Jeans. For the most part, Arcade Fire songs seem impossible to cover with much success. But along came Mr Little Jeans and her stunning version of Suburbs, a beautifully haunting synth whirring, beat pulsing rendition (listen via YouTube, here). Suffice to say, it blew me away, and I’ve been a Mr Little Jeans fan since. The singer songwriter makes her return this month with a new noir-pop breakup anthem named Forgetter, featuring glitchy textures and a slow-building bass line. It’s quite the darkly bewitching song, dripping in noire aesthetics and layered with lyrics whose hopefulness contrasts the song’s warped captivating sound. Forgetter is like Lykke Li and Banks all rolled up in one, with much of Mr Little Jeans’ signature ethereal and elaborate tones.
Mr Little Jeans explains: "Forgetter" is here to remind you that even after the most brutal of break ups, everything is going to be ok... I wrote ‘Forgetter’ after a devastating break-up. I was severely depressed. But once I accepted how toxic the relationship had been, my mental state did a 180, almost overnight. I suddenly felt like I had super powers. ‘Forgetter’ is about this journey and the belief that you will survive a fall — no matter how dark." Forgetter is out now via Nettwerk Records.
