Especially when he felt giving them all his own once they'd gotten back had been so important. Perhaps Jean feels the same way, even if Levi doesn't know what to do with all that gratitude. Truthfully, he never really has.

piercing gaze snaps at him, locking on as sharp as a target; face scrunches, as if she has the right to be offended by the accusation. childish. heart still pounding, completely exhilarated; she was better, and faster still, and obstacles would fall to her. whether they liked it or not. quick to take action in the place of others, grasping onto it as opportunity to strengthen herself; show the world your ferocity. she could never truly subdue the will that burned within.

any noise of immediate object is silenced, her scoff remaining confined within her throat. Yes, she had always been this competitive. but the word is dead to her; for it goes far beyond. who but her would ever understand, for the way she conducts herself is arrogant, even after all these years.

Aether looks up as he sees the familiar face. He can’t help but give him a soft smile as he tilts his head at him. He looks tired, but all the scouts do at this point. He doesn’t blame them really, he’s tired of all of this too.

     “ Look , I panicked , okay ? ” Kaja crossed her arms as she leaned against the wall , desperately looking at anything else but Jean . “ I was just so sick of everyone asking about my love life that I figured it would get them to leave me alone , but instead they insisted my completely non existent partner come to the wedding too ...”

     The brunette had attempted to explain over text her unfortunate circumstances to Jean over text , but decided crashing into his apartment in typical Kaja style was more appropriate . She ran him through the whole situation top to bottom - her sister was getting married , but of course her husband was friends with her ex and he just had to be the best man ... If she showed up alone , she felt like the whole thing would just be embarrassing , and she’d would just be miserable the whole time . At least if she had someone there , it might be more tolerable .

     “ Long story short , I need you to just pretend to be my boyfriend for like , a handful of days , and when the wedding’s over , we can forget about it , no big deal ! ” She told him , “ At least there’ll be super bougie alcohol at a super bougie location ? ” As if that would be what convinces him . She specifically chose to leave out the part where she already told them what he looked like , she figured she’d drop that on him later .
