You'll forever be trapped inside your head. Make it a nice place to live.
hello. i love @cookiephil . bye
When I met her we were 12 She would tell me her secrets And she would always say “I don’t think I’ll make it to 16.” When she turned 16, I gave her our first kiss And I told her I’d never let her go. She told me “Maybe I can make it to 30.” When we were 17 She found out that she wouldn’t be able To pay off her student loans Until she was 34. She said “Maybe I can make it until then.” When she turned 34 I gave her a bouquet of roses And I told her I’d be with her Until the end. “I think I can make it to 42.” She told me. On her 42nd birthday I kissed her on the lips And took her to a dinner Under the full moon. I told her she was beautiful As the moons light lit up her eyes. She looked at me And she smiled. “I think 58 is doable.” She decided. On her 58th birthday I held her in my arms As she mourned the passing of her mum. I told her that she could cry Until crying was no longer an escape And that I would always be there To kiss away her sadness. She looked at me As I brushed away her tears. “I love you.” She said to me. I smiled. “I think I’ll live my life out until 70 now.” She said in a thoughtful tone. On her 70th birthday she was in the kitchen When I came in to say hello. She looked so beautiful With her blue eyes glistening in the sun. She smiled at me And offered me a cupcake As she surveyed the birds in our yard. Instead of a cupcake, I took her in my arms And told her how lucky I was To be with someone As sweet as her. “I think maybe 98 will be a good time for me,” She smiled as she kissed my cheeks. On the night of her 98th birthday, I reminded her Of when she hadn’t thought That she could make it to 16. She smiled And looked ahead With a wistfulness in her eyes. “I feel older than 16.” She told me Her voice rasping But still sounding Like a beautiful harmony to me. I told her That she was just as beautiful As she had been when we were 12. We went to bed that night Our hearts full of happiness And light. It was as if We were children again Alive And at home Cuddled into each other’s arms. It wasn’t until morning When I realized that she hadn’t told me How long she would live to next. When I awoke With her body cold in my arms I knew she was gone. Through my tears I kissed her cheeks Her forehead And her eye lids too. Landing my last kiss on her pale lips As I took one last look At the beautiful woman That I called my wife. The woman who stole my heart At the age of 12 The girl who hadn’t meant to live Past the age of 16.
