Flying goldfish
This lonely hatted figure with flying goldfish in the woods is actually just a sketch, but I find myself intrigued with it nonetheless because it was a recent step for me to work with underpainting in traditional artworks and actually have it do some of the work. None of my paintings, digital or traditonal, really start on a white background, I work with lots of layers, many of which affect the entire image in the beginning. But, I have rarely ever actually used it as a part of the final image, basically just leaving an area unworked because there's paint already there. You can clearly see my underpainting was this grey green, and I greatly enjoyed how it changed with the simultaneous contrast of the red flowers or distant blues respectively. The sketch is 17Γ25cm small, I worked on it in several "sessions" that were each maybe half an hour long with leftover paints. You can also see my compositions really lean to the side when left unchecked ;)
