Ok guys. Heres the deal. What Trump did is obviously not cool. Not child should be punished for what their parent did. Just because a parent came to the States illegally, doesnt mean the kid had a say. And I get why the parents did it. I really do. They wanted a better life for the next generation. What parent doesnt?
Now, I see people throwing a fit at Trump and suing him, and focusing all their energy on him. Theyre angry. I am too. These are people who live, work, study, and serve here. They dont deserve this.
However, throwing that anger at Trump isnt going to accomplish anything. Its not. Why? Because Congress is behind this whole freaking mess. Obama started DACA because Congress wouldnt make any laws to help these kids. Guess who this is up to again? Thats right, Congress.
No one is being sent away yet. And if Congress gets its shit together, they wont. Take your anger, and hurt, and confusion and go to Congress. Write, call, do something. Change doesnt happen by yelling at someone, by only being angry and not taking any actions.
Congress has the opportunity to do right by all these kids that didnt do anything wrong. Make sure they know that. Dont be too distracted by your anger at Trump to reach out and be an actual force for change. A force for good.
Congress has 6 months to put something else in place, lets make sure they know we want them to do that. Its what Im going to do.
