Did you know that the reason for structural violence and institutional racism, at it’s base, is capitalism? Sources will talk about this, they’ll talk about that -- I still haven’t heart someone just come out and say it. The root cause of racial improprieties is capitalism. Why were there slaves? Because white based capitalism saw the opportunity of a resource to exploit. Why were civil rights denied for so long? Capitalism say the possibility of upsetting the expanding market structure and initiated resistance. Why are there so many instances of police violence against the black? Because of the over militarization of police forces, advocated for by the partnership between the federal government and the privatized defense industry. 

Another comment: our mindsets are shaped by the institution of patriarchal capitalism as well. Capitalism is a market structure resistant to change (however primed to innovate it is). We have been taught, by advertising and media and products (ALL ENDEMIC TO CAPITALISM) that white is normal and good and racially derivative is different and bad.
