The other day two people noticed that I was doing better mental health wise. They said they could tell because I was talking about my interests again.
I started reading papers people had sent me based on a presentation I made in October. It was nice realizing that other people could see what I’ve been feeling for the past few weeks.
Throwback to my senior research project
My mom said she like my necklace and I didn’t tell her it was $5 after Halloween at Walmart

[image id: text post from tumblr by grubloved: it is very funny that the more you get into animal biology the sillier binary sex becomes as a concept. like not only is it a made up inadequate model for humans, it literally doesn’t work for like any other animal on the planet. even other mammals!they all have their own, different complex of sexual traits and their own several bell curves, many of which are not very analogous to “human binary sex” at all.]
This is actually so fucking stupid. A few of the notes are like “op didn’t mean mammals and birds” yeah, they fucking did. They were very specific.
For ANIMALS there are male and female organisms. There are ANIMALS that deviate from norms by being able to reproduce asexually, switch sex, etc. but that is still only remarkable because there are two sexes! Also, none of those are mammals.
Plants even have a sex! Have you read about how male plants are planted more in urban spaces, which means allergies are worse?
Fungi are wild, but they still have sexes. Some species have dozens of sexes, but they still have a sex.
Animals done fit into the human sex binary?? Yes, they do. One makes eggs, the other makes sperm. Different animals have different adaptations, behaviors, and forms because they’re different species, not because they have a different sex. Does this person think that human gender, aka sex stereotypes, are part of sex? That’s the only way this “sex binary is bullshit” take makes sense and it is so brain dead it literally took me 15 min to think of it.
Fuck!
Gendies get your head out of your ass and actually learn some goddam science for once. This is why things like tests are important. We need to know that these morons actually learned something instead of writing biology fan fiction during class. Fml
I deserve to be able to make every expression Kermit makes. I want my head to get pointier when I’m surprised. I want to fold my face in half when I’m disappointed. I want to fling my arms about so wildly that no one, not even my puppeteer, knows what’s going on.
