They’re a type of yokai. They aren’t necessarily evil either, often their stories involve the punishment of greed (mostly relating to food). As you can see, they often appear as an ordinary woman, however they have a section at the back of their skulls that splits open to allow a second mouth to feed. Apparently they can also manipulate hair as limbs, which I think is pretty neat.

if something is very high stakes for me, as long as i’m not stepping over or hurting other people for it, i can go against my own principles to help myself (it’s not something i’m proud of). on the other hand, i believe i would do everything i can to help the people and/or causes i care about. i think i’m a generally kind person and am willing to go out of my way to help strangers too. also, i do think humans are inherently selfish— but that doesn’t mean it’s a bad thing. i think we’re born with enough of selfishness to help us survive a constantly changing world and it’s instrumental in our growth. it can’t be helped, it’s pure instinct. but as we grow older, there starts adding up a conscious element to it. we’ll think of ourselves, and we’ll think of others— but it’s who you end up making the choice for that actually counts.

this movie called “beautiful boy” which stars timothee chalamet and steve carell and is about a monologue between a son and a dad in the case where the son is an addict and what the family goes through. beautifully made, i have about 30 mins left

Wes Craven’s horror icon, Freddy Krueger, was created based on an old tale heard from a group of Cambodian refugees. Apparently, they collectively refused to sleep due to haunting and terrifying nightmares. When they finally gave into sleep, it was said that they sadly died.
