Here are some quick tips - The printing on the band is near perfect - The tobacco wrapper had an even golden hue, with very few small veins - The overall construction is even and round with no flat spots or misshapen. - Don’t forget the proper cap on the cigar! - These are just a few of the basic ways of identifying a@real vs counterfeit. Counterfeits, it's not just for Cuban Cigars anymore. On the left we have a fake Davidoff. Not the poorly cut edges of the band. The space between the outer gold leaf and the adage of the band is far to wide. The print quality is not horrible, but still not up to the high standards of Davidoff. On the right is a ProCigar quality seal which is also counterfeit. The printing is off center, the hologram lettering is a disaster. As cigars continue to surge in popularity expect to continue to see more and more counterfeits from all premium brands. #fohiba #fakesnotjustforcubans #notgotrare

#Fohiba alert. Here is a great example of the DIY Cohiba kit. The "Habanos" seal and the Republic of Cuba" seal is applied at the factory. They are NOT thrown in for you to apply later. Also, note the warped color of these Fohiba Maduro's. The cigars should be much darker shade. While Cuba has never perfected Maduro's the color should be a touch more black. Arm yourself and don't get ripped off. #youmightbesmokingoldtires

Cohiba tips: the cigar on the left is a fake Cuban Cohiba and the cigar on the right is authentic. Couple of easy points to remember. First the hologram bands on the top and bottom of the band just have three micro lines showing the word "Cohiba" and the "Indian head" logo. Note the print quality on the #fohiba is quite poor. The embossing on the fake Cohiba's print alignment is way off. Cohiba is a flagship brand of SA Habanos and thus the packaging is top quality. Remember that SA Habanos controls the pricing for ALL Cuban cigars, thus you are NOT getting a box of Cohiba's for $54 a box! #stopit
