the fob spam I just went on brought to you by me spending the evening with a fellow former fobr boardie that I haven't seen in so so so fucking long, let alone in a way that we could actually talk for awhile, and we talked about fall out boy soooo much, and I'm just so full of love 💕
NOT TO MENTION SEEING DAVE FUCKING MACKINDER PLAY A SOLO SET IN A TINY BAR!!!! I WAS BASICALLY FRONT ROW!!! HIS VOICE IS SO GOOD!!! I DIED!!!! OF HAPPINESS!!!!!!
i haven't been able to join in as much as I would've loved to this summer but reading some of the posts about this fob tour makes my heart SO fucking whole. everyone on here losing sleep to see what they play every night, coming back from shows with your stories and pictures and videos, making memories and friendships... I NEED you to know that fall out boy has ALWAYS DONE THIS TO PEOPLE. I don't mean it in a dismissive way, I mean it just, like... you are a part of something SO huge. so much bigger than you might know, and I'm so so so fucking happy you're here. I don't know what newer fans generally know about the boards, but their website used to have a message board and we did basically exactly this. tracked tours and performances, analyzed songs and secret blog posts, and also talked about literally everything else under the sun right there in the "band" section, and made lifelong friendships. and the posts I'm seeing now on Tumblr dot com in the year of our lord (Patrick Stump) 2023.... they're full of the same feelings that I had when I was a teenager, sitting at my family computer, sweating my fucking ass off to post on fobr.com all of summer '06, loving this god damn mother fucking band so hard it hurts and is also the most incredible feeling in the world.
and that's to say nothing of all the other kajillion ways fob fans have found each other. my closest irl friends in my 20s were almost entirely people who loved fob, some of us met on the boards but the rest met variously thru lj/a p!atd show, in line to see the hush sound and the cab, in high school, here on Tumblr.... I don't really know how to end this so I just will and say if you read this, I love you. if you love fall out boy, I love you.
