Classes were always a mixed bag of awkward encounters, silent advice and the occasional fumble in class- but there was sense of anticipation that day, the thrum of excitement in his step as he flew through the choreo, gently fixing people’s postures and positions.
Maybe it was silly, to be so delighted by her presence in the room- to want to do his best in front of her... but he was young and inexperienced and the rush of new feelings left him dizzy with the soft flutter of wings in his heart.
He was sharp and precise that day and feeling on top of the world. It was the backing he needed to wait outside the changing rooms, it allowed him to ignore the people around him as he leaned against the wall nearby and gently traced the words he had written up in advance the previous night.
When she stepped out, his smile was instant and bright, and he perked up and walked over, flipping his notebook to show her the neat words on the page.
“There’s a new cafe that opened up recently. Would you like to check it out with me?”
