A busy year was coming to a surprisingly calm end, with but a few schedules left after the successful wrap-up of their Japanese tour, and Moonjin was rather surprised how much free time Gold Star was granting them for the holidays, though he wasn't sure if pleasantly or otherwise. Personally, he couldn't simply leave it all behind and spend a few happy, carefree days with his family, not when the important things he hadn't found the time for in between hectic schedules glared angrily at him from the list he had dutifully kept on his phone. There was no time to slack off. Songs needed to be ready before their next comeback, their performances for end-of-the-year shows perfected, and he hadn't even started brainstorming what other projects he could lend himself to next in order to gain favor with the company's officials, for Impulse.
For Moonjin to take a day off, they would have had to lock him out of the company building – and even then, it was likely he would have found another place he could work at, a practice room to rent or, in the worst case, a quiet nook of their dorm. Compared to regular days, he encountered very few people throughout the hours he spent perched on a dull grey folding chair in front of a computer which blinded him with its brightness as he continuously stared at an irregular pattern of peaks layered above and next to each other that would one day be a song, maybe one the public would actually get to hear. There was that one time someone peeked their head in, originally just to turn off the light as they had assumed the room empty, but they left again after common pleasantries had been exchanged, and Moonjin resumed his work, unfazed.
A quiet sigh left his lips as he rolled his aching shoulders, exhaustion he had managed to drown out with his determination so far gradually catching up to him. I need a break, he relented as he checked the time on his phone and found it was way past sundown, just five minutes will do. An unrealistic claim, usually, but not for him – five minute breaks had been enough to keep him going for days on end.
Before he knew it, he had opened a messenger app on his phone, and after blinking away the dull ache behind his eyes, he scrolled through his contacts, then stopped at one in particular: Joonsoo.
