There were scarce things to do within the Bostonius while it was parked on the outer edge of Phong Gi. There was no need for takeoff soon, given they were still attempting to find ways to win back the Azran egg from the village leader. They'd spent the day exploring the settlement and the nearby regions as well, which had undoubtedly drained the investigating party of most of their energy. Not enough so to retire them all to their beds, but to take it easy for the rest of the night. Layton, Luke, Emmy, and Aurora wanted to explore the town further, given the opportunity to, to find out what else there was that the town provided.
That saved Sycamore and Joey to attend to their own devices. She'd generously gotten around some alcohol now that the children were gone, save the brand new bottle of red wine for herself. With their drinks situated, they first began talking about the current situation with the egg, which ended up spiraling into the professor's long rant about the Azran Civilization in its entirety. Both of them sat on the plush, red couch that was littered in purple cat hair (try as Raymond might, Keats would continue to shed all over the place), but neither of them paid it any mind. Their faces, especially their eyes, somehow seemed locked into each other's gazes.
Sycamore had started wrapping up a point she was making about Misthallery's Garden of Healing, speaking of how ridiculous it felt to her that something of such significant importance was discovered... in the middle of a random town. They took a breath after blowing off that batch of steam, and then sighed the rest of it out. Their red eyes closed as they did so, and when they opened, they noticed that Joey had put his arm up top the back of the couch. It ran past their head, and they noticed that he'd inched closer, too.
And then Joey spoke. And then their entire face went red. They almost dropped the wine glass in their hand as they gawked back at him.
"You-- Aha. Well, Mister Flores, who knew what a charmer you are!" Sycamore's free hand moved to her knee so that she could squeeze it. She needed it in order to ground herself. Damn him, he can't just say something like that! Not like this! The tint on her face only grew hotter as her eyes kept shifting to look everywhere that wasn't Joey. She chuckled sheepishly again as she started raising her hand up to her face. Quick, do something stupid and cute!
"You do know how to make a lady all hot and bothered," Sycamore muttered as they began fanning their face. The instant realization at what had come out of their mouth made an almost mortified look form on their face. Not that stupid, you idiot!
"N-No, not like that. You just flatter me, is all. That's what I meant the first time. Th-Thank you, Joey." The hand fanning his face sped up, but the look on their face showed a genuine smile, albeit through the embarrassment of his slip up.
