Haii!! :D I was curious about how Peet and Crane met? Was it sort of like a business-related matter between TAP and the AAHW? Did they only meet once or do they interact on occasion for work stuff?
Also! I know he’s met Yanik outside TAP, but has he made any friends inside of TAP? Does he have a generally good relationship with his coworkers/superiors?
they met when Peet was overseeing the supplies being delivered to the AAHW, yes. they only talk for business related stuff but Crane likes to chit chat while they do their mundane tasks. Peet doesn't respond much except for nods but crane is satisfied with it enough. He's a huge yapper so he has a lot of stuff to say about the AAHW, and Peet is always curious about how it works.
I'd say he's well respected in the facility he works at, and mostly famous for being one of the stronger guards for the organization. he kind of hates the attention though because he doesn't like to be perceived. A lot of agents wants to befriend him but he declines their offer because he's not really the type to make a lot of friends. Most of their interactions are positive and nice, which Peet likes because he's HATES conflict.
He has mutual respect for his superiors and has spoken to The Conductor. (once) though it was just a "Good job, keep your head up." exchange which boosted his morale. Engineers are quite confident in his abilities so he's usually their first pick when they want to secure a delivery/protect a specific building.

HI!!!! so i have so so many words and feelings about happysheriff and sheriff i decided to just. talk about my favorite part of my written lore, which is their second meeting!! and also just their dynamic due to it
TLDR; skittles gets brought back to life by doc, and remeets with sheriff! sheriff due to his guilt on killing a Good Nevadan swears to make it a personal duty to keep skittles safe, and yaoiyuri happens. the Long Verison is under the cut you have been warned
so skittles is a gol3m grunt who escaped very young, and she was originally designed and created to be a body guard but due to An Event she ran away and found a run down toy factory in nevada. as a little baby grunt she kept herself busy with fairytales - she still has every grimms fairy tale memorized, and she still carries around little trinkets she has kept in the factory. one thing she grew up admiring due to this was people who are robin hood figures, especially cowboys. she spent a lot a lot of time watching and keeping busy with old kids films, inculding westerns.
a very, very important thing to understand skittles is to understand she is not. aware of just how truly evil nevada is. she barely had to leave her "home" in the past due to stockpiles of old food (mainly expired candy and junk food) and old resources. she knows nevada is bad and scary, but as far as talking to people ajd knowing the culture among nevada...she was not fully in tuned. all she would do is deliver ice cream - and nobody was mean to the ice cream man you know?
soon, she made her way to visit the elusive sheriff because she would see posters with him, and she admired him greatly. a great, strong man who would do anything for his people! so she went to make a delivery, and wanted to just give him something. which happened to be a beloved teddy bear of hers
and uh. well. we all remember that...!
however, as stated before, nobody really has any hostility towards the ice cream lady. and that includes hank! him and doc found skittles after sheriff shot her, and hank proceeded to beg doc to revive skittles. this was solely because he wanted ice cream and nobody else in nevada has ice cream. therefore, doc brought her back! not without fault, due to the incident rendering half her flesh really damaged, inculding her jaw & she needed a jaw prosthetic. due to wanting to keep her gentle persona, she opted to wear a gas mask to hide her newfound prosthetic worried that it'd make people assume she was violent and willingly getting into tussels herself
(durning this period of healing with doc and revival of her s3lf she goes on estrogen btw. she's a trans girl)
soon, she visits sheriff again. and she brings a basket to apologize for well. dying on him, and he must be so, so scared! little does she know since the event and realizing skittles didn't come for intent to harm, he spiraled. how, oh how, could he kill and destroy what could've been the last pure thing in nevada? the last person who wanted to make a difference in a good way?
soon, the meeting happens again. and more than anything, sheriff was...confused. first because how did she come back? from DYING? and the second being...how did you forgive me for killing you? she holds absolutely no malice. her words are "well, you were scared, and i shouldn't of snuck up on you."
from that point on, due to his crippling guilt, he made a vow to protect skittles and make sure there's always eyes on the factory she lives at. she swears its not needed (and, to be fair, she was a very well built 9 foot tall grunt trained by a wimbleton. she didn't really need protection.) but he swore by it. and she in return would make him lunch, walking an hour to his office and back to her factory everyday, and hanging out with him for hours and just making sure he's okay.
i think why happysheriff means so much to me is because so many sheriff ships are so focused on how awful he can be, and also how much he can be tortured. skittles just wants to take care of him, and sheriff just wants to take care of her.
sheriff and skittles both have very similar morals, but just got there in different ways. sheriff tries to be kind and be human because he knows how awful and evil the world is. skittles is kind and shows happiness because she is ignorant and has experienced little to nothing. they both lean into their respective roles at first, until their real shells come out -
skittles, being secretly in a lot of pain and worry, and very strong and very, very willing to cause harm if it meant her loved ones won't take shit. and well, sheriff isn't called a coward for no reason. but they both still love eachother! skittles loves the fact she can be sweet and gentle to sheriff, and that he can turn his head off and just be spoiled. and sheriff loves the fact his girlfriend isn't only silly and sweet, but strong and sturdy in her views. no matter how their puzzle pieces are placed, they fit
he never did throw out her teddy bear, by the way. he sew it back together.
hello !!!!!! a small question first: at what stage/for what reason was murphy's name changed to law? i imagine (or think) its intertwined with the magnification, but i'm curious to know!
(I'd also be super interested to like. read about them/their history!!! the lores! are there any posts you feel explain bits of their story or would it necessitate a newer writeup? I don't wanna drop a huge question on you right out the gate LOL)
HIII!!! youre right to assume it is linked to his magnification, it began as just more of a title than his actual name. i always assumed (and also just canonized it in my version of madcom lol) that the other mags like torture were just given those names as titles upon being magged, and law was the one murphy got. (for meta 4th wall reasons i gave him that as a murphys law reference lol, that was one of the core things i based the entire story on... while im here the other half of that is actons name came from actons dictum(<couldnt find a direct link but its the very first one on this page!!))
initially murphy only treated it like a title and didnt really identify with it at all, he felt a little silly even when coworkers referred to him as it and preferred to just get called his name. but as time went on and the main events of mlad happen (tldr murphy realizing he fell out of love with acton, and his mental health quickly worsening from a mix of a lot of things i need to go into better but largely including heavy heavy dissociation and directing all his frustrations onto actons clinginess towards him) and eventually after a particularly bad spat (that i ALSO need to rewrite/draw out properly) murphy rejects his old life entirely and demands to only be known as law. he sucks but he also experienced borderline ego death so i cant be too mad
