These Sugar and Spice Baked Yeast Doughnuts are a delightful combination of sweet and spicy flavors. They are soft, fluffy, and perfect for a cozy morning treat or a sweet snack.
Ingredients: 2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast. 1/4 cup warm water. 3/4 cup warm milk. 1/4 cup granulated sugar. 1/3 cup unsalted butter, melted. 2 large eggs. 4 cups all-purpose flour. 1/2 teaspoon salt. 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg. 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon. 1/4 teaspoon ground allspice. 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves. 1/4 cup granulated sugar for coating. 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon for coating. 1/4 cup unsalted butter for coating.
Instructions: In warm water, dissolve the yeast and let it sit for five minutes to get frothy. Beaten eggs, melted butter, sugar, and warm milk should all be combined in a big bowl. Add the yeast mixture and stir. Mix the flour, salt, cloves, cinnamon, nutmeg, and allspice in a separate bowl. Mixing until a soft dough forms, gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ones. Using a floured surface, knead the dough for 5 to 7 minutes, or until it becomes elastic and smooth. After the dough has doubled in size, put it in a bowl that has been oiled, cover it, and let it rise for an hour. Heat the oven to 375F 190C and lightly oil a doughnut pan. After pounding the dough, roll it out to a thickness of about 1/2 inch. Cut out doughnuts with a doughnut cutter or a round cookie cutter, then arrange them in the pan that has been oiled. Once the doughnuts are lightly golden, bake them for 10 to 12 minutes. As the doughnuts bake, melt the 1/4 cup butter in a bowl and combine the 1/4 cup sugar and 1 teaspoon cinnamon in a separate bowl for coating. Immediately after the doughnuts are taken out of the oven, coat them with the cinnamon-sugar mixture and then dip them in the melted butter. Enjoy and warm up!
