She was beyond frustrated with being corrected every other word. She was over eight millennia old, she had fought in major battles and helped establish great cities and defend them but yet she was spoken to as if she was a simpleton because this new language did not follow the patterns and rules of the ones she was used to.
There were all new alphabets, their number system was based differently and apparently the language had adopted rules and habits from others and that meant learning it was difficult because it was not standard throughout. Some words were spelled the same and pronounced utterly different, some words were spelled different and pronounced the same. She was fed up with it!
So instead, she was sitting in the bedroom with some of the little deer and bird toys they had accumulated along the way so far and was more than happily conversing with them in her own vernacular. No one was asking her what she meant or fussing at her for it, it was the first time in quite some while where she felt the tension releasing.
Until there was a soft sound from the doorway and she looked over to see Haldir looking a bit too amused. She changed to Sindarin, motioning to an empty spot on the floor. ”We are enjoying a conversation where we are not expected to use their language or know their history, but it would be nice to have someone that can actually answer me,” she added with a sheepish expression. ”Join me?”
Begetting Day | tofindthesun modern!verse
Belenwen had known of his begetting day for some time, she had been around while they tried to apply the current calendar to the one they knew as they tried to learn more of everything around them. She also knew he was homesick in ways, so she wanted to do something to bring him a bit of home, a bit more familiarity.
He had been a great archer, but now they were both without the tool of their sport. However, she was not blind to the skills it took to make one from bare branch. It would take time, she had known as much, and it might not be the best bow he had ever used but it would be better than nothing and, in a selfish manner, would be a chance to return to habits and practices she enjoyed more.
She would finish the projects assigned to her quickly and then use the added time and then some to work on this project in particular. It took time to find the proper wood, but also time to treat it before she could begin to work the wood. As the actual day approached - and as he grew more eager for it! - she started to get nervous that she may not finish in time but as it turned out, she finished a day early.
The idea had been to hide it once more and wait another day. What was a day to an elf? Surely she could wait it out but as she overheard him mention it again, her patience ran out and she snuck off to the back room to gather the gift that she had loosely wrapped in the brown paper they used to ship items with from the shop.
"Legolas, come here!" she called out, peeking her head into the working space of the shop. "I have something for you."

Little Orc | flower!verse
Belenwen was happy that she was trusted with running errands, it also gave her a chance to explore the city better. What she had not expected to do was come upon a cardboard box that mewed, shoved off to the side of an alleyway. It was already getting increasingly cold and no one seemed aware of the world around them unless they were admiring the sparkly lights everywhere. No one seemed to notice the shrill little mews and the scratching of the tiny claws against the cardboard.
She adjusted the bags she was carrying before picking up the small creature. It was feline but unlike any she had ever seen before, but it was cold and so very tiny and it needed help. She unbuttoned her coat a few buttons and tucked him in there where it could cuddle up with her scarf before wrapping an arm protectively around the small bundle.
First things first, she dropped off items with Mrs. McHale and the kitten remained quiet. "Be quiet when you go inside, Isaac is asleep," she warned and motioned to their apartment. With a nod, she headed that way and was far more quiet than a human could achieve. She was careful to wrap up the kitten, odd looking as he might be, in her scarf after she removed her jacket and she looked around for a suitable bed. Well, their bed was a very good bed and the puppies were asleep as well.
She set the kitten down on the bed near Legolas, confident that he would be safe there while she put her coat and scarf away. He was adorable in a rather unsettling, ugly way.

Belenwen did not fully understand how there were these lights controlled by switches, her grasp on their language was not enough so that when she asked that it all made sense to her. What she did know was that it was convenient and that these new lights for the holidays were pretty.
The McHales had left for a few days and had trusted the two Elves with the safe keeping of their home. She never doubted their ability, the both of them had helped establish entire cities so a singular home was not a daunting task at all. It did leave an abundance of time and she was quickly growing weary of watching the television or simply going to the park. She wanted to do something.
She had found the lights set aside to decorate with later and a thought occurred to her. Legolas had commented on how pretty the lights looked and she agreed with him. He was down in the shop working on arrangements for orders he had promised to fulfill while the McHales were gone, she had the time to recreate the mental image that she had in mind.
She gathered up the boxes of lights and also snuck into the storage area to get the little deers that lit up as well. She worked on arranging the lights around the living room so that the perimeter was covered and surrounded some of the furniture as well. She set up the deer near the tree that was already in the room - why the tree was indoors like this was still odd to her - but it worked out. She set it up, changed things around and tried again three different times before she sought out the white fluffy stuff Mrs. McHale had set out as fake snow in places and added it around some of the lights so it did not look so obvious on the floor or shelves.
Once she was done, she turned out the lights in the room while leaving the twinkling lights on and rushed to the flower shop. "Come look, come look!" she waited until Legolas had looked up from his work. Belenwen took advantage of his momentary confusion and curiosity, reaching out to grab his hand to drag him off with her.
Stopping short of the apartment, she moved to stand behind him with both hands over his eyes. "It is a surprise," she explained. "Walk forward until you can reach the couch," since there was an unobstructed path through the kitchen to the living room. It was the easiest way to let him know where to go.
"Alright, now you may look!" she was all smiles as she dropped her hands and moved to stand next to him. Hopefully he liked it and she was not disappointed as his eyes widened and the smile broke across his face. "I thought you might be missing the woods even more than I do so I made some for us."

“You’re just trying to see if you can get me to blush, aren’t you?" she teased, nudging his arm with her own. Even still, she did smile before looping an arm around his shoulders in a slight hug.
