Day 2 was similar to day one, but I finally got a chance to learn about revit! Darguin showed me how to do a quick zoning analysis for a site using internet resources. I was able to learn the basics of revit (though it was a little frustrating) and be able to draw a draft site plan of a place we were going to visit the next day.

The most important thing I learned on day 2 was being patient with a new software and learning how to observe others and use the internets resources to use the software more efficiently.

Day 3 at flow design was my first outing! After be shown how to prep the existing conditions on day 2, we set out to see the site. It is a basement renovation for two bedrooms, a shared bathroom, and a living space. I tried drawing a rough sketch of a potential outline for the space, knowing that it will most likely change after the measuring. It was a quick measuring experience but I learned a lot about how to efficiently go around an interior space and get all the important heights, widths and lengths.

Afterwards, we set out to another site where we met with some contractors for an initial consultation. That was an interesting experience because the house we went to looked like it hadnt been touched in 30 years. It needed a complete renovation, and as we walked through I listened to darguin talk about what was possible. He spoke of many questions and concerns that I never thought of. It was interesting learning about his proposed design plan for the space!

Day 5 Sad day and last day of Externship. Sadly, Friday was a touching day. It feels like the week went too fast, but the great thing is that Flow Design did their best to teach Baily and I lots of architectural things. Things we did not know or learn before. We learned about Revit, we learned about zoning before designing something first, and how the team has to meet with the city and let them know about it, and so forth.

Even though, the week went too fast for us, I enjoyed it and feel like I was part of something. I did not feel or get judged for not knowing things that I didn't get the chance to learn before. I felt like I could be myself around Flow Design. In some places, you would get judged for not knowing something, for trying your best, and for being yourself. That is one of my pet peeves. If I applied at a place, I am applying because I am seeking more experience. How can I provide you the experience that you are seeking from me or others, and you are not willing to accept and allow us to learn or get these experiences from you? How can I get the experience? Please tell me. What sense does that make? Experience doesn't just come like that. We learn and gain experience from each other. Without earning it or learning it from each other. Again, how can I provide my experience to you? . Remember, the Lord Jesus says, " Help One another." "Love one another." " Judge yourself first before judging others." I thank the Lord for Flow Design, they make you feel comfortable and welcome, and make you feel like you are part of a family. This is the first firm that I experienced and I saw so much patience. They are patiently willing to show someone else. They know that there are no perfections in this world, but there you are trying your best. I faithfully pray to God that this firm grows more.

On day two me and Anchise shadowed the media team at the firm to create this awesome video! The principal architect, Darguin Fortuna showed us how they use the media team to educate others through teaching videos, ARE exam help, and to show site visits and construction projects. I learned how much and how often Flow design reaches out to the community to teach them about architecture and the design process.

For the second half of the day, I was introduced to revit for the first time. Darguin spent time with me independently to show me how to do a massing for a current project. We learned how to do a quick zoning analysis and then a rough floor plan of the project that will be measured the next day. I learned how to find basic information online that is helpful for prepping the existing conditions of a building!
