BOOM dhshshfhd. the BALLOON GUY!!!!!! the WALTZERS. literally everything about the fair like the fair is fuckin God tier i can’t believe my mates are making me do revision at costa for an hour or two can u believe what bellends.

Flora Day celebrations in Helston May 8th 2015
Attending the traditional Flora day 2015 activities is a must when you live in Helston, this year was no exception. I went down there with the family and managed to get quite a few good images to share with you all. Was a bit drizzly but as the Cornish tend to they carried on enjoying the festivities.
Helston Flora day 2015 is an annual event celebrating spring and the home of the Furry dance. It's one of the oldest british customs that is still going on today and in Helston everyone is very proud of it. Many people from all over Cornwall make a sort of pilgrimage to Helston to be merry and watch the locals dancing and playing music down the main high streets in Helston. The Helston town band always make an appearance and play the traditional tune for the dancing. Furry is probably derived from the Cornish fer or feast. Its a great tradition of Flora day for all the local shops and houses that are in the town center to be dressed up with branches and leaves and flowers from the local fauna. The traditional flower which you'll see on some of the children is lily of the valley which grows quite naturally around Helston and is synonymous with the Flora day celebrations.
The men wear their tops and tails and the women dress in their finest frocks to make the event one of great enjoyment and fun for all. A day to dress up, be merry and get involved as a community. Not many places in England have such traditions and me growing up in Bournemouth when I moved here was very new to me but they have these kind of days all over Cornwall to celebrate for different reasons. The celebrations go on longer than just the day and many like to spend it in the pub getting very merry, me with two little ones didn't partake this year however.
They also hold a fair down the bottom of Helston boating lake with rides and sweets and stalls and makes for a great place to have a bit of fun after enjoying the town's activities earlier in the day. Flora day is wicked enjoyment for all and I know I'll be going next year just the same hopefully it will be a bit drier next year we had typical Cornish drizzle this year but most people carried on as per usual.
Next year I am going to be looking forward to it all the more as my daughter is going to be in it! She's 5 at the moment but moving into year 2 next year which is when they start getting involved in Flora Day at Nansloe Academy. Not sure it its the same as the other schools around Helston but I am very much looking forward to seeing her in it dancing along the town and making us proud. With the white dresses and the commitment to getting involved all the kids seemed to have a great time and were enjoying all the dancing.
It's such a great event, we even spotted Andrew George who up until now was the St Ives Contingencies MP and had been since 1998 or something like that and this was before he had the results that he wasn't going to be in the next length of parliment down here in Cornwall. I think the Cornish people had a lot of love for Andrew George and it's a new stone upturned for the next five years and will be interesting to see what the fate of Cornwall is now it's no longer Lib dem controlled. However as you can tell from the image he seemed happy enough on Flora day and was very much getting involved as he was born local to Helston, in Mullion.
