#float the boat

We tested our first coracle! The launch took place in early evening, on the river in East Fremantle, on a tiny quiet beach at the bottom of a steep staircase. Our coracle floated beautifully, the water was still, and we paddled about with the aid of a spare length of pine, since we didn't have an actual paddle yet. It was VERY SUCCESSFUL. Our friend Raven from the FAC cafe said (and you have to imagine this in an enthusiastic Kiwi accent): "Buoyant as!"

Thanks to everyone who supported our Float the Boat Party on June 23rd at Sunnyside. In case you didn't hear the party was a smashing good time helped along by some great music from Team Tribal and tons of beer samples from Great Lakes Brewery and Ganaoque Brewing Co. Attendance was through the roof and ticket sales made the event an entire success with $2,500 raised toward the purchase of a new BuK dragonboat this year.

We’re planning on having another end of season party to raise the rest of the boat funds…prizes will be even better! If that’s possible…so stay tuned!
