@flipzimm // “i would say this isn’t what it looks like but it... sort of is?” a bit of a laugh, slightly nervous. it’s just rey’s luck; of course her cop neighbor would catch her breaking into her own house. (and it’s not her fault that poe took the spare key last time he was dropping bb-8 off and forgot to replace it under the flower pot outside her front door.) at least he’s seen her watering her plants enough times to know her face. “got locked out. don’t suppose you have a hairpin?” if living with plutt had taught her anything, it was how to pick a lock.
“Please, it’s been a difficult enough morning.” ( hux )
flipzimm"Yes, well. I'm afraid that's of little concern to me." Quinn replied. Blast it. How did he ever get stuck with these loathsome personale? "All I ask is that you do your job and allow me to do mine."
“You have nothing.” ( anakin )
flipzimmAnakin sighed, "Phillip." he murmured, "You don't have to be so cruel. I've made some mistakes but--I have faith in you." he said. "I know you're not going to make the same ones. All I ask is that you trust me."

Most days she can get by, has practiced keeping it all in until late at night when it’s dark and she can curl in on herself beneath her blankets, hidden as much as possible from the world before she lets herself break only to put herself back together before the next morning. This night -- day, week -- has been particularly hard, and now that she has someone who she talks to regularly it’s become harder to keep it all locked inside. That Flip allows her inside doesn’t help, but she’s so grateful not to be alone she can’t muster up annoyance at him for making her so weak. “Maybe a drink first, and then I’ll think about sharing,” she murmurs, a halfhearted smile on her lips.

(for lovely @flipzimm, continued from here!)
Flip’s stubborn, Rey’s known that since the beginning. So when she offered to go and visit Mark, she also knew that Flip’s reaction would be something very similar to this. But the idea of Flip getting notes like that at work, where he’s supposed to be safe in the police station, terrifies her; sends a ripple of pure terror through her at the mere thought of losing Flip. She can see the way his teeth are gritted, not holding back his emotions now. But Rey knows better -- she knows better than to just simply assume and go about her days thinking that Mark isn’t going to retaliate in some way. Because unfortunately for the both of them, she knows Mark. And she knows how long and how strong he can hold grudges for -- especially against Flip. “I am safe -- but I don’t think you are, Flip,” Rey tells him after a moment, keeping her gaze steady and her eyes on him. “We both know what Mark is like. I don’t want to come over to your house one day and find you --” she stops herself in the middle of her sentence, cutting herself off as she takes in a sharp breath, her throat feeling tight. “If I went to see him, maybe he’d -- let off you a little. Wouldn’t that be a good thing?” Rey asks, pinching her lips together as she sighs, running a tired hand through her hair. She’s been working almost seventy-two hours straight, and the last thing she needed to hear was that Flip was getting notes from Mark at his own work place. She’s terrified, absolutely petrified of losing him where she’s standing in front of him now. “He’s knows we’re -- he knows we’re together, Flip, so eventually one he gets to you -- he’s going to get to me.” Rey tells him, wrapping her arms tight around her body now.
(for my dear @flipzimm!)
Rey hasn’t had much time to travel or do much of anything besides her job, and she doesn’t in any way consider this to be a form of vacation. There’s more fear involved, being ‘on the run’, as it were. Once the entire investigation was compromised, there was no question -- the both of them had to leave before their lives were put in any more danger. Rey sat on the plane the entire way over, quiet and staring out the window -- her eyes welling up with tears at the thought of not seeing Finn now for who knows how long, or Poe, or even going to work at the hospital. She doesn’t blame flip, and she knows she shouldn’t. They’d both been a bit careless when it came to the case, and that’s how she figures her ex had found out about them anyway. She just hates that she’s the reason Flip and this entire case got compromised, because she had to get involved in Flip’s life. If he had been with any other undercover case, this wouldn’t have happened, and Rey knows she’s the cause for all of this. They’ve been instructed to a small, secluded town called Glacier, located near the high and beautiful mountains in Washington. From the few pictures she’d seen, Rey thought it looked beautiful -- and their small home was something straight out of some sort of magazine, with wood along the walls and a fireplace. “You two are married while you’re out there. Got it?” they’d been given strict instructions, and Rey was always one to follow the rules, so she wasn’t going to argue. They arrive and unpack, there for a couple of days before being invited to a party at their neighbour, Patty’s house, who lives a good ten minutes away by driving the truck they’d been given. Apparently a number of people from the town are going to be there, and Rey finds herself a little panicked that she might slip up on their new identities now, checking her hair one last time before making her way out to the truck where Flip’s waiting for her. “It’s a shame you two are married, you know,” Patty had joked when she’d come over a couple of nights ago to invite them, bringing along a pie, which Rey had gratefully accepted. “Two young, good looking people like you in this town? You would’ve been snatched up in an instant,” she said, Rey forcing a small laugh and kissing Flip’s cheek, just to keep up with the story and try and create a small level of affection they can show when they’re around other people to keep up with the story that they’re married. ”We’re very happy,” Rey assured Patty, who’d left with a warm smile and a wave before she’d gone. She feels safer with Flip, that’s always been something Rey’s felt since the first time she’d met him. She always feels safer, more secure when he’s around, and being in this small cabin near the mountains, that hasn’t changed. Rey’s just glad she’s with Flip, finding herself constantly worrying and wondering if he feels the same way. It’s not the faking being married to Flip part that Rey is worried about, she’s more so wondering what Flip is thinking, what he’s feeling, as she gets into the front seat. “What’s our last name again?” she asks, pushing some of her hair behind her ear. “And we’ve been married for just under a year, right? Isn’t that what they said?” she adds, the worry starting to settle in. The drive to Patty’s house feels longer than ten minutes, Rey glancing over at Flip as they pull into what she assumes is the driveway now. “You look good,” she tells him, her voice gentle as she keeps her eyes focused on looking out the front windshield now. “Just, you know. You look -- nice, and all. For the party.”

she might have been foolish enough to believe he had the audacity to CARE for her , if his string of questions didn't erupt from him like a relentless INTERROGATION . rey had to wonder if that was all this was : manufactured concern from a COP that just wanted to dig to the bottom of the mystery , and had no genuine interest in HELPING HER . everyone in this goddamn world only wanted to serve themselves . time with SNOKE had taught her that , watching as others nearly sold their souls for the power and prestige he could offer them .
for rey , she had merely wanted to BELONG , and a place and purpose for herself . he had been keen to EXPLOIT that desperation , all of that bottled rage at her ABANDONMENT and the neglect she had suffered , for his own sake . it had been a nest of VIPERS , and though she had escaped unscathed , they were catching up to her now. SLITHERING in the shadows , hoping to strike .
❝ no one can help me . ❞ it answers NOTHING and discloses no information . it would incriminate her , first and foremost , but that's a lesser priority than flip's SAFETY . in the short time she's known him , he has given the impression that he's a GOOD MAN with righteous ethics and a sense for justice . he doesn't deserve to be DRAGGED into a mess and made a target because of her , and rey can't believe anyone would see her as worth saving . neither would he , if he'd known all she had done .
❝ they're not going to kill me . they can't kill me if they can't find me . ❞ the implication was OBVIOUS . she intended to flee , and begin somewhere else . with a different name , MAYBE , to avoid her past catching up to her as it had now . ❝ you need to stay away from me . i'm not good for anyone . ❞ ESPECIALLY not flip .
