Introducing “Flipping the Game”: the first-ever podcast series to explore feminine influence within the sneaker game at the cross-section of fitness and streetwear. Created by Reebok in partnership with award-winning production company Gimlet Media, the podcast presents a powerful platform for thought-provoking cultural commentary by some of the industry’s most knowledgeable, compelling and to-date underrepresented voices.

The podcast is inspired by Reebok’s role in establishing the original precedent for female fitness footwear; in 1982 Reebok introduced the now-iconic “Freestyle” model, the first athletic shoe made exclusively for women. As sportswear transcended sport and activewear infiltrated lifestyle fashion culture, the feminine Freestyle led the way and remains to-date a historically-inspired yet strikingly contemporary silhouette fit.

“Flipping the Game” passes the mic to the feminine voices operating at the tip of the societal spear, quietly-no-more. Led by radio and television host Scottie Beam, each episode is its own engaging conversation on both the contemporary ethos and historical influences within the game - from the 80s-era maverick maidens who stomped out corporate America’s glass ceiling in their Freestyles to today’s myriad of female-led modern movements.

The roster of featured guests includes pioneering partners across a variety of cultural verticals (such as fitness guru Denise Austin and sneakerhead Emily Oberg) speaking on emergence of fitness and streetwear in the 80s, Reebok’s role in the revolution, and the past / present / future battle for equality in the sneaker space and beyond – all set against an original soundtrack by producer / DJ TRAKGIRL.

“This is what it’s all about. Gone should be the days of ‘now available in womens sizes’. Women love sneakers, and sneakers are for women just as much as men, simple as that,” says host Scottie Beam. “Our goal is to honestly just remind everyone of this – and flex on the patriarchy while we’re at it”
