Growing fast by Shelly Lynn Hachey O Via Flickr: Young Grizzly cub catching up to mother bear - taken in the Canadian Rockies. Hope he has a safe season - life is not easy for baby bears. Only about 35% to 50% of grizzly bear cubs survive to adulthood. They face an incredibly difficult journey, making grizzlies one of the slowest-reproducing land mammals in North America.

Locals call the momma Grizzly “Hot Chocolate”, and her two cub names are Mocha and Cocoa (unsure which one this is). Sadly her previous cubs were killed by a boar so it was nice to see her cubs doing well so far this year. Life is challenging for baby bears. Taken from a large boat in Prince Rupert, British Columbia.
