ookokok like everything else with Flicker/Out this is underdeveloped and subject to change but i spent all of last night thinking about them, so.

E6 (Elusor) is the pilot ranked 1 above Flicker in their squad, but she's been around for around a year and a half (longer than the guy above her, D5). Ellly's whole deal is that she downplays her skills, her bitterness, and her ambitions, in order to lower the expectations put on her. She's actually a very compotent pilot and absolutly DESPISES the other members of her squad but you won't catch her acting like that. She put son a very bubbly face and is generally well liked.

So, enter Flicker. Who in her sole focus on improving her piloting completely blanks all of Elly's attempts to break down her walls.

This gets Elly more than a little obsessed over time. It doesn't help that they often sortie as a pair (Elly is based on the Mary river turtle so her mech is defensive, Flicker's is fast and frail, they synergise) and , like everyone else also notices, its obvious Flicker has so much potential she's just not clicking with piloting.

It definatly starts with Elly offering to give Flicker some training which she- eventually- agrees to after much 'you're only one rank above me don't talk down to me like that' posturing. But they're never close. Which facinates Elly and draws her in.

Maybe it's cus Flicker is unabashedly kind of an asshole and all gooy on the inside and she's intriged as to why she's present an unlikable persona while she herself is so preoccupied with being as amiable as possible? Maybe.

I don't have a lot figured out for the plot yet but I DO know the main conceit is everyone above Flicker and Elusor in the squad progressivly die and they get bumped up in rank and responsibility. Flicker does not take to this well, but Elusor would. She'd be so good. She has this ruthlessness to her character that'd translate really well into Head Corporate Pilot. Obviously this also makes the yuri more complicated. So does Flicker killing a child and refusing to pilot for a really long time but that's neither here nor there.
