Lorna Shore is one of the heaviest bands I have ever heard. I first got a hold of them (late as fuck I know) earlier this year before their record "Flesh Coffin" dropped. I was approached about shooting their stop here in Michigan in March. They played with Despised Icon, Carnifex, Rings of Saturn, Fallujah all at the Crofoot Ballroom in Pontiac. I fell in love with this band during their set. I have highlighted Austin's drumming a few times this year and the dude is a fucking beast. The rest of the band equate his energy, musicianship, and talent. This is a solid heavy as fuck band that will more than likely be melting faces for years to come.
I have never been to The Ritz, which makes like 6 venues I have shot in the last 6 months that I have never shot before. I like realizing shit like that because this week was filled with two pretty harsh denial letters. I figured we were risking it re-designing the site and I know we don't have a huge fan base but yeah, I love exporting photos and listening to tunes and hitting some wax and really seeing the connection to artists.
This shit got put in my lap right at the time when I needed it to. This band, this music, these musicians. It just makes sense to me. It might be brash and fucking brutal as all fuck, and well, not everything is for everyone. Lorna Shore brings it, and today they announced the tour dates for their next tour as their current tour winds down... Summer Slaughter 2017 with The Black Dahlia Murder, Dying Fetus, The Faceless, Oceano, Rings of Saturn, and more.
At the moment it's looking like this is a 2-2 show in Detroit. It will probably be shortened to 1. Although the Majestic Complex is known for going right to 2am for some shows. If the metalheads are drinking, they will let it roll. I expect 3-12 to be the tentative time with a surprise set in the Cafe or the Magic Stick.
The complex loves to capitalize on shows like this. Black Christmas being a great example. So I wouldn't put it past a production company to team up with them to fill out the other venue spots with another load of bands or areas for activities or some shit. Anyway, check out the photos from the Ritz and go see Lorna Shore August 25th at the Majestic in Detroit. It's the 2nd to last night of the tour and in TBDM's backyard. I already understand the destruction that will happen. See ya there!
