Rabastan was bored. It wasn’t as though he couldn’t entertain himself, after all, Rab was adept at finding something or someone to occupy his time. All it took was a moment in a pub, or, if he was feeling particularly indulgent and not entirely creative, a quarter of an hour in an alleyway in a muggle town. But Rab was bored and uninspired, and technically supposed to be doing work. Which was likely the reason for the lack of inspiration.Â
Pushing back into his chair- well-stuffed and well worn leather that creaked in protest as he moved- Rabastan raised his arms over his head and stretched, staring down at the open books and parchment before him with unvieled skepticism. Not that anyone was there to see it. Rodolphus was at the Ministry, probably, because he was cursed with the poor fortune of not being able to quit and leave the place behind. And Bella, well, Bella might very well have been around, but Rabastan had woken early and taken his breakfast in the library, and he hadn’t heard any particularly loud noises nor had she wandered in and hexed him because he had thrown caution to the wind and picked a spot with his back facing the entrance. Which was really a missed opportunity, were she around, so Rabastan figured he was likely alone.Â
And yet, when the door opened with the telltale sound of heavy wood on ancient hinges that were held together by magic more than anything, Rabastan was hardly alarmed. There weren’t many people who could wander through the wards surrounding Lestrange manor unimpeded. A number of them would likely happily curse Rab, but none of them would permanently maim him. So nothing to be too concerned about, really.
Rab turned his head mid-stretch to glance to the door, catching sight of the person there with a growing smile, “Oh, good, you’ve come to save me.” He shifted to his feet in an unhurried movement, flipping a book closed as he went, and walked towards the door with a lazily graceful gait accompanied by rolling of his neck where soreness had suddenly made itself known. Distance closed, Rab’s smile took on a mischievous edge as he took her hand and inclined his head, dropping a kiss onto it’s back in a chivalrous gesture lacking any sincerity whatsoever. He straightened with a wink.Â
“Afternoon. Morning? I haven’t a clue. Regardless, it’s lovely to see you, Cissa.”Â
