Question time!Â
I suspect the answer is on LeeFish somewhere, but after an hour of browsing, I could not find what I was looking for. (It’s a great site, but I really wish it had a search option...)Â
Here’s the question: Would an SSD help with the flashing purple problem?Â
Here’s some background:Â
I’ve had this flashing purple problem for a few months now, but it’s mostly been minor and happening only when the computer has been on too long. But lately it’s gotten worse, and been happening sooner. For example, today I turned on the computer, loaded my game, and went directly to play this family (i.e., no moving around the neighbourhood at all), and the above picture is what I see. No flashing purple on the lot, but I had them visit a community lot after half a day, and most of that lot was flashing purple.Â
Programs/tweaks I have used following these tutorials:Â - Graphics Rules Maker - CFF Explorer - Data Execution Prevention
The game sometimes crashes too, which is something that was not a problem for me until recently. So I wonder if maybe my desktop computer is getting old and tired. It has been wheezing more than it used to...Â
Back to the SSD question: I’m not wanting to spend money on a new computer right now, but I could spring $100 or so on something like that if it would help. I use this computer mainly for playing the Sims, so I’d really like it to run better. From what I’ve heard, the SSD is great for running programs and games quickly, but I haven’t looked too deeply into it, and I don’t know if it would make much of a difference with older games like TS2.Â
So, if not an SSD, is there some other upgrade I could get for my desktop? A new graphic card, perhaps? I’m not very knowledgeable about computer parts, so any help from savvy people is appreciated!Â
