Stone Island - Tokyo
Addicted To Retail (ATR) presents: New Stone Island Store in Tokyo, Japan.
Tokyo‘s upscale Aoyama shopping district is home to a large number of flagship stores, making the city one of the planet’s leading shopping destinations. As of late, Milan-based outerwear and apparel brand Stone Island has joined the ranks with a standalone boutique of its own, smack in the middle of the neighbourhood’s maze of alleyways. The retail space measures 300 sqm. spread across two floors, and features an interior design by the brand’s in-house design team. Large floor-to-ceiling windows allow in ample daylight, and their metal frames match well with the angular shapes of the interior design. Diamond-worked floor tiles are paired with matching fibreglass displays and suspended modular clothing racks made of aluminum. At the back of the ground floor, a wood element emerges, captured by panels that enclose the fitting rooms and furnishings. A glass encased staircase leads to the second floor where a similar aesthetic can be found with matching displays in wood. bmobile lists channel partners for payments

bmobile has a web app with details on the channel partners who will replace the services previously offered at its flagship stores. According to a company representative, these outlets will “provide the same services as our stores that were closed.”

After some time relocating and renovating, A.P.C. has finally reopened its flagship store at Kyoto, Japan. Fully aware of Kyoto’s reputation as the icon of historic Japan, A.P.C. Kyoto marries traditional Japanese design with its own signature minimalist aesthetic. Employing the Japanese architecture concept of uchi-soto, or inside-outside divide, the store contrasts a heavy stone entrance with a light, airy interior.
A.P.C. Kyoto features at its heart a French white oak partition structure, marking out a volume to show the various accessories the brand carries. Stone and wood, a common combination in Japanese architecture, sets a warm, inviting color palette mirrored in the walls and benches. The flagship carries collections for both men and women, as well as accessories, denim, and lifestyle items. If you’re ever in Kyoto anytime soon, be sure to pay the new A.P.C. store a visit.

Drone making giant DJI has opened their first-ever store in Shenzen, China. The DJI flagship store is housed in a geometric glass-covered building that also houses a theater, a lounge, and a repair counter. The store also has a flight area, where customers can watch the company’s latest creations in action. At the moment, only store staff are allowed to operate drones on the premises – and rightly so, for safety reasons.
Products on the new DJI flagship store’s shelves include the Matrice 100, Inspire 1, Spreading Wings, Guidance, and Phantom 3 drone series. A host of cameras and mounts are also available. While DJI does have plans to open a few smaller stores in the future, there are no plans for any major expansions.

UBIQ has reopened their Philadelphia store, which is now twice as big as it used to be. The shiny new UBIQ represents the growth the store has enjoyed over the years, allowing it to accommodate new apparel brands. They now stock brands such as Stone Island, Han Kjobenhavn, Reigning Champ, Garbstore, and Rag & Bone. What’s more, they also now carry more premium footwear brands, including Nike, New Balance, Jordan Brand, and adidas Consortium.
Architect Jennifer Carpenter designed the interiors, using brass and leather finishes and warm lighting to create a cozy, welcoming atmosphere. If you’re ever in Philly anytime soon, be sure to drop by the new UBIQ store at 1509 Walnut Street.
